Mod Testing
This thread is for people who run AI tests and want to report their findings. I'm making a new thread to avoid cluttering main comment page.

Also, another huge reason is because the main comment section has a character limit, so you can't have detailed discussions without hitting the word cap.

Main problem is the AI going after ruins which causes AI to waste time traveling around the map doing nothing, ending up in a part of the map they have no busines, not taking any action in their starting area because well their armies are in africa going after ruins.

Also your 4th screenshot: Ostyanka moves before morathi, that is not a bull charge when she is moving first, she charged to an undefended city and then Morathi reacted, next turn she can move away.

And Rakarth never loses in my campaigns, and Throt is just random but thats just potential rng. Maybe depends on the difficulty.

I replied:

1. What mod list did you use???
2. 4th SS Ostankya is at war with Morathi and uses forced march into her territory. Makes no sense
3. Your SS's make a lot of mistakes, you claim someone is making bad moves when they aren't at war with you. That's just the limitation of the AI, the AI doesn't consider movement threats until they are at war with you.
4. Your durthu is behaving weird but without posting your mod list we have no idea why
5. N'Kari being ignored is because you're only turn 30, Elves are still teching up and taking care of immediate threats. N'Kari doesn't pose any threat to Elves, and N'Kari won't declare war because he would lose. Keep playing and chances are good Elves will dec war.
6. Occupying ruins is a low priority but if there aren't any other moves sometimes they do it. Rarely an issue

1. I have some QoL and cosmetic mods, I can assure they don't touch the AI and don't interfere with it.
2. Makes sense if Morathi went into ambush earlier witch AI does pretty often, Ostyanka was obviously trying to occupy the minor city. In Hecleas AI is very cautious and doesn't make bull charges like that so it's a very missleading representation.
3. Ok, I don't feel that way playing on other mods.
4. I have a clear idea why. Maybe it's not clear on screenshots because you can't see the whole movement. But they move next to the ruin, don't occupy it, and then some other AI occupys it. And both Durthu armies move further north towards chaos ruins.
6. Other people reported ruins being on high priority still. Something to keep in mind at least in future testing.

Also, some more observations on your pics:

1. You wrote Khatap was being passive instead of picking off weak enemy. That is a mistake, Khatep is a Tomb King and benifits from teching up. It's not in their interest to have early wars, ESPECIALLY when there are major factions (the DE) nearby which hate them.

Far smarter for Khatep to let beastmen do their thing as they share a common foe.

2. You wrote Volkmar was on crusade, but we have no idea who else he's at war with. If he's at war with 2 or 3 power factions that will kill him, it makes sense for him to run. If he stayed he would get deleted.

3. Your Aranessa screenshot you also make an error. You claim she didn't occupy the province, when she already has 2 out of 3 settlements. Was the 3rd one occupied by Ikit Claw (skaven), which prevented her from taking it? And she probably avoided war with Skaven because it wasn't in her interest. Later on Volkmar abandoned his main territory, and it looks like he decided to take a weak coastal settlement as his main territory instead. Is Volkmar at war with Ikit Claw?

4. Har Ganeth making peace with Cylostra: Why is it bad for them to make peace? What free land? Looks to me like they both had bigger threats and decided not to foolishly kill each other.

5. I also notice from your SS's the WE's have been killed by Belegar, that is pretty rare, what mods are you using? Almost never happens in my tests. Like 1 out of 100 games.

6. Ostankya raiding instead of sieging is indeed broken, my guess it's one of your mods because that never happens in my tests.

7. Morathi sacking without occupying is normal behavior for settlements that are cumbersome to defend.

8. In your final SS, you claim morathi goes to war with Ulthuan instead of finishing off Ostankya - how do you know Ulthuan didn't declare war on Morathi?

Yes, I'm playing as Khazrak.

Mod list. Cosmetic + qol, I even opened most of them in RPFM because I'm trying to learn a bit, and one is my own bug fix for furies. I'm pretty sure nothing interferes with the AI, never noticed any wierd behaviour, played extensively over past month (easy 300h+)

2. Volkmar was at war with Aranessa, and then got attacked by Wurzag, those are only wars he is in. Problem is him going so far away from his starting position.

3. Aranessa own 2/3 cities in the province, she is just fighting Volkmar and minor bretonian faction in the desert. She is latter attacked by Belegar.

5. WE and belegar are often at war, maybe it depends on what difficulty you play so we get different results? I was playing on very hard.

8. Factions in Ulthuan had defensive alliance and she was at war with each one so Morathi had to declare war.


I think if AI was more keen on occupying would improve the whole behaviour. There would be no ruins for them to hunt if there were no ruins. They wouldn't just sack and leave an enemy to rebuild.

Your mod list looks fine, with one exception: Memreader, which hasn't been updated in 3 years. It directly touches the game's memory files and may be doing undesirable stuff.

People are reporting bugs in the comment section of memreader, such as missing buttons, so who knows what else it might be affecting? I wouldn't trust it.

There is no way to check memreader's code with RPFM, and it would be a slog to go through it with C++ or whatever it's written in.

It is entirely possible that memreader is causing issues.

I will try testing some tests with memreader, and see if anything different happens. I am very suspicious of that mod.

Memreader is just a mod required by skill que by Cpecific, both mods are made by him. I don't think there is anything wrong with it.

People are literally reporting bugs in the comment section of memreader, the mod is 3 years old, massive changes have been made to the database and structure of WH3 in the past 3 years, and you think there's nothing wrong? Yeah, I don't share your same blind faith

I see only one bug regarding some traits mod compability. Author claims on jun 2024 that it doesn't need an update.
It is after all just a mod to allow memory acces to enable other mods, doesn't touch AI in any way.

Karol, there are 3 pages of people asking for updates. Numerous users reporting bugs, including one guy who gets a CTD. Give me a break... you trust that???

2 people reporting bug using some other trait mod. One guy reported crush and then he said it was on his end. 31k subscriptions, yea some people just want to have a green icon on their mod list.
If the mod doesn't touch anything that CA changes with updates then it doesn't need an update.
I haven't seen any changes after subscribing to that mod so I trust it's fine.

Just because a large number of people are subscribed doesn't mean they use it. Sometimes people stay subbed to encourage the mod author to keep it updated.

Also, it is quite frequent that major mod conflicts go ignored and people play with bugs. For example, the Community Bugfix Mod, which is very popular, has many major conflicts with SFO. Using them both together causes all kinds of problems. However, most do not realize this and people use them together all the time without noticing that half of their campaign is broken.
