Building Suggestions
Loving this mod! It goes a long way in keeping me from immediately switching my capital to one of the great castles in the realm whenever I'm gunning for dat sweet sweet title of Lord Paramount.

As for some suggestions, I got a few ideas in mind! I don't necessarily mean for all of these to be included, but these are some locations that I seem to recall have some interesting flavour.

For the Westerlands, I'd consider Greenfield. Once known as the Bower, their keep is made out of Weirwood, which isn't something you hear about every day. The lords that hold it aren't particularly noteworthy, but it might give players an incentive to start with this smaller county, be it as the Greenfields or a custom house.

Furthermore, I've seen others discuss Lannisport, and would agree that it's a bit lacking currently. There's a 'Great Motherhouse' referenced in Fire & Blood that's said to be located in Lannisport. While we don't know what that entails, it could make for a neat special building in Brightwall, Lannisport's church holding! An unbuilt special building does exist in the city holding Lannisport, but is tied to the Drowned God-Fot7 syncretic religion.

Another suggestion for Lannisport would be its famed goldsmiths.

Riverlands: If Whitewalls (located in Milkstone) is rebuilt, maybe it could have a special building to reflect its original ostentatious glory, with gold-veined marble, weirwood rafters, etc?

Iron Islands: Lordsport is known for its forges and blacksmiths, which isn't necessarily unique, but given the relative poverty of the Iron Islands at large, could do well to display just how different Lordsport is from the rest of the islands. Granted, there's a fair few special buildings on the II already, so it might be superfluous.

"Such riches as the Iron Islands possess lie under the hills of Great Wyk, Harlaw, and Orkmont, where lead, tin, and iron can be found in abundance. These ores are the chief export of the islands. There are many fine metalworkers amongst the ironborn, as might be expected; the forges of Lordsport produce swords, axes, ringmail, and plate second to none."

Reach: Next, this one is more tenuous, but Lady Rohanne Webber was said to have bred some of the finest horses in the Reach. A special building at Coldmoat denoting the fine horse stock could serve well to make the Northmarch feel a little bit more special, signifying how they were the first line of defense against the Kingdom of the Rock back in the day. Cavalry bonuses, perhaps?

Stormlands: Nightsong is famous for its towers, being styled 'Nightsong of the Singing Towers' in TWOIAF. This, paired with House Caron's reputation for warriors, singers, and being prominent in the defense of the Stormlands, I think Nightsong is a worthy contender for a special building. That, and I think the Dornish Marches could use some love, given how popular their houses seem to be in the community.

"The castles of the Dornish Marches are among the strongest of the realm, and for good reason, for seldom has a generation passed when they have not faced some new attack. They were established to create a bulwark against incursions from the Dornish and the Kings of the Reach. The Marcher lords are duly proud of their history as key defenders of the realm of the Storm Kings, and many are the ballads and tales of their valor.

Among the sternest of the Marcher seats are Stonehelm, the ancient seat of House Swann, with its watchtowers of black and white stone, which stands above the waters of the river Slayne with its rapids, pools, and waterfalls; Blackhaven, home to House Dondarrion, with its forbidding black basalt walls and bottomless dry moat; and Nightsong of the Singing Towers, where House Caron has held sway for many centuries. Though styled as lords of the marches, the Carons hold no dominion over the other Marcher lords; they count themselves the oldest of the Marcher houses, however (a claim the Swanns dispute), and have always been prominent in leading the defense of the stormlands.

Famous for their warriors and singers alike, House Caron has a storied history that stretches back to the Age of Heroes. The Carons are wont to say that the nightingales of their house have been seen on a thousand battlefields, and the histories show that Nightsong has been besieged no less than thirty-seven times in the last thousand years."

Beyond the Wall: You mentioned having ideas for Hardhome, which is exciting! I'm not sure if you've considered this already, but perhaps it could work similarly to Harrenhal, wherein the special building starts with various maluses representing the supposed curse. Subsequent upgrades lessen the maluses, until they are replaced with bonuses.

There's probably other keeps that could do with special buildings, but these are the ones that come to mind right now! Apologies for the lengthy post, and if some of the suggestions have already been made elsewhere in the thread.

Thank you for making this!

Great post, thank you for all the suggestions and kind words. Glad to see people enjoy the submod. Offering more possibilities when it comes to places to rule from (especially as minor lords) was the primary idea behind the mod, so I’m very happy to hear it achieves its purpose.

Very interesting suggestions, haven’t thought about some of them. Will have to think what kind of bonuses Greenfield and Whitewalls could provide. Perhaps prestige for Greenfield and a tiny amount of renown for Whitewalls? Not sure…

As for Lannisport, I will include it in a future update, giving the city slightly higher defenses on account of the walls surrounding the city and garrison/levy for the highly trained City Watch protecting the town (which now that I think about it, I might split into two separate buildings: Lannisport itself and the City Watch garrisons) Haven’t thought about the Great Motherhouse, but that’s a possibility too.

For the Iron Islands, Lordsport is a good shout, although as it is a city holding, the player wouldn’t really benefit from bonuses provided to the holder of the barony. I think buffs to heavy infantry MaA/maintenance cost reduction would be a good idea for the mines located on the Isles, at the expense of raw income to further differentiate them from the westerlander ones, but for now I’d rather not touch base buildings to avoid potential compatibility issues with other mods.

Looking at the Reach, I realize the north, north-east area of Highgarden is somewhat lackluster in unique landmarks, so Coldmoat could be a nice castle to have something unique for. It was also mentioned before, but I didn’t really know what bonuses to put there, so I like your idea for cavalry bonuses.

I do have the Marches in consideration, I love that area myself (I mean, how could you not, the terrain in that area looks absolutely gorgeous, AGOT devs did an amazing job with that) but would prefer to avoid on doubling buffs coming from culture/dynastic legacies unless it’s really warranted. You could argue that the Dreadfort already does that already, though. Perhaps one or two castles down there would be nice to have and I’m just too nit-picky with my approach :P

For Hardhome, I think it makes a lot of sense, I’d like to do that. I’m also experimenting with some more unique requirements for certain holdings. For example, currently I made it so the ruined version of Hardhome can only be improved if you are King-Beyond-the-Wall, as I think it would take a great leader to convince people to settle there again. Obviously, it’s subject to change. I’m not proficient at scripting at all (learning a bit as I make this), and writing localization takes me some time as English is not my native language, so I apologize if the updates are slow, but I do have some work done for the next one! ;)

Thanks again for suggesting your ideas.

I'm loving this mod! Wish there was a model for the Warg King's Castle at Sea Dragon Point, which is situated slightly south-west of Bear Island in the North.
