Combat Extended
Github download issues?
Hi, I wanted to install combat extended 1.4 version from GitHub to my game so that I can continue playing in 1.4. I tried installing the upper 5 options for versions on GitHub and have tried extracting each of them into my Rimworld Mod file, but no matter what, the mod menu says it was built for 1.5 and brings up tonnes of errors if I try activate it as a mod along with harmony.

Can anyone help with this? Is this an issue with the files on GitHub? Has anyone gone through this and managed to fix it? Any help is appreciated

Same problem. It says the version of the mod is "uncompiled".

Rimworld version: 1.4.3901
mod version: 1.4.5.7 (neither 1.4.5.8 worked)
Have you tried following these instructions[github.com]? They indicate that the versions on GitHub are uncompiled and will require you to compile it before running - and provide several methods of doing so.
@McMookerson Under development version it says "If you want to play with the latest changes without compiling the assembly yourself, you can download the development snapshot, it is updated a few minutes after a pull request is merged to the Development branch." with a download link on "development snapshot". I had been using that link to download versions and was under the impression that this meant I wouldn't have to build it myself. Otherwise, I have no idea what half of the instructions mean for building it myself and I don't have the IDEs given. I'm hoping that I'm not expected to install a bunch of software in order to make a mod work
@Maniacman28 Well, that explains it  The latest development build would, from my understanding (and I'll absolutely defer to anyone from the dev team that says differently) be the one built for 1.5, not 1.4. There are older, 1.4 compatible versions available on GitHub, but they will need to be compiled by the methods I linked above. In fact, I'm pretty sure those older versions are what @NOBEF is describing, based on the error they mentioned about it being not compiled.

Those instructions shouldn't require much (if any) in the way of additional software, but they will require some finagling to get them going - I.e., opening up a command prompt and using the provided instructions for compiling it using .Net
@McMookerson I assumed that the link just gave the development snapshot download for the version it was on. Thank you for your help, I'll try find some video to walk me through compiling it as the instructions are difficult for me to understand, will update the discussion with the video link if I find it.

Once again, thank you, I at least understand what I have to do now
What "5 options for versions" were you trying?
There are precompiled assemblies in every release, you don't have to build anything like the other guy says.
Latest release for 1.4 is
https://github.com/CombatExtended-Continued/CombatExtended/releases/tag/v1.4.5.8
Don't get the 1.4.5.8 get the one 1.4.5.7 since the previous one crashes
@コ7 How do you install the precompiled ones? Do you install all 3 of the assets from the github page link you sent me and unzip them all into the mods folder? Or am I meant to install the "source code" zip/"CombatExtended" zip and only unzip one of those to the mods folder? I apolagise if this is a silly question, I just don't have experience with Github at all
Just grab an archive that DOESN'T say "Source code" and extract its contents into .../RimWorld/Mods/.
I downloaded the 1.5 version and it said it's for 1.4
Afterwards when I thought it was fine it disabled all of my mods
Anyone got a link or the ver to download from github to resolve Tribal and Classic rimpy issue?
Now it's sending me an error that says the files I attempted to download are missing.
