How to do that?:
- take metal spoon
- point the end of the spoon in a 90 degree angle to the place where the lid connects with the can
- start rubbing
- if you make a hole go try expand it or move your spoon's "blade" to another place on the lid
I recommend trying this at home, best survival experience in my life (context: my life isn't very much about survival)
Cars can crash into barricades, etc.
Negative feelings will decrease after sleeping in bed or sitting on sofa.

Real weapons dont degrade that quickly.
Swords dull- they dont snap like a twig unless they're made of the absolute cheapest garbage (though with only vanilla swords being katanas and machetes the katana would be aboslute trash except for the occasional rare real one found. and the machete would be the dominate blade as even cheap ones are made of thicker steel. they'd also be incredibly common in stores of all types)
Wood baseball bats last too long- metal ones dont last long enough.
most kitchen knives would still break but premium ones would last an eternity if oiled and sharpened occasionally
most house hold tools would also never break when used as a weapon.
exception being extremely cheap hammers and screw drivers.
I've never seen a tool break unless its got way too many ftlbs of torque applied and it cant give anywhere else (ie stripping the screw or snapping the wood or whatever)
most rifles of the 90s would last an eternity even being neglected- bolt action rifle last generations of neglect
Aks from the 40s never cleaned and taken care of are still taking car of russian and ukraine soldiers in the current conflict.
Ammo at first would be everywhere and on everyone. not literally but would be a lot more common at first. as would surviver zombies
This would dry up within weeks (or a week if you wanted to simulate you not being the only one alive)
With pistols it depends highly on the brand.
Zeds detection should rely entirely on sight.
unless someone wants to rework it so they're attracted to all noises of all types because its bs they're attracted to human sounds alone (gunfire, cars, doors, windows, glass shattering, footsteps, etc)
zeds would inevitably attack each other rather then starving to death.
plants take weeks/months to grow and produce but they produce A LOT. They are also mostly incredibly resilient but the more they have to focus on survival the less the produce
(we had several cherry totmatoe plants that did fine in the 120 degree summer we had this year in oklahoma but they didn't bare fruit till it got under 90.)
Disease for plants isnt always a death sentence for them as treatments exist but it also affects production greatly.
speaking of disease-
Illness would be the biggest threat- outside of other humans..
Botulism
dysentery
Salmonella
Listeria
E. coli
Staph Bacteria
Hepatitis
the flu
strep infections
Most of these are common and aside from the flu if youve had it several times- will either cripple you or kill you rather quickly.
90s houses would not insulate that well -
Nevermind the fact that most buildings would be older structures.
Also buildings degrade relatively quickly without maintenance. Not instantly but a lot quicker then people think
depending on the plant, the water plant would likely still 'run' for a long time (weeks to months without aid). what would kill the water faster would be massive water main bursts and leaks not being addressed.
sewage would be a major concern. if it backs up and spills everywhere it basically poisons everything
i have more but ive already written a book of likely extra difficult/impossible asks
Removing Doors from their frames instead of dissembling them.
Also, add the option to dissemble door and window frames, even if the frame was small, you surely could get at the very least nails from them.
