SuperStates Mod and Art of War/Patch 1.8
With Art of War and Patch 1.8 going live at the end of the month, I wanted to let you know what's going on.

The mod will be considered incompatible with Patch 1.8 and Art of War as I have do a number of things in order to make sure things work right. However this is to be temporary.

First thing is that I have to change the map, thankfully this step is much easier since I'm not going to need to redraw too much, this is to allow for the use of the new provinces to be added in Art of War. The BIG annoyance is going to be coming from the change in province numbers, I have made it a rule that the Paradox assignment of province numbers supercedes the ones I've used so a number of provinces will have to have their numbers shifted in order to account for the new provinces, meaning I have to change anumber of decisions, missions, and events that rely on them. Tedious but not all that hard.

Second, I have to ensure I'm using the 1.8 files that I don't intend to amend. Learning a few tricks form the EU4 Wiki and Forums is going to allow me to cut down most of the file bloat (currently the mod is distributed with the entire province history, country history, country "common" files due to originally not knowing how to redirect files, this will eventually change so that the mod takes up less bandwidth to download and to load into the game.)

I expect to have this done in time permitting, three to four months. Some things are going to take longer than others, but I'm optimistic of being done in February. Things might change to where it can be done sooner, but right now I'm not entirely sure its possible.

As for playing the Mod in 1.7.3 instead of 1.8 during the temporary incompatbility period this can be done through Steam by following these steps:

From the Steam Library Page, Right click the listing of Europa Universalis IV.
Select Properties.
Select Betas Tab.
Select Version 1.7.3 from drop down menu of available versions.
Steam will update the game to 1.7.3.
Play the mod as you normally would.

Fantastic man! Can't wait for the update.

When the mod goes live for 1.8, the timeline will end at 9999.12.31, and start at the vanilla start date (personally I've always preferred the 1356 start but I don't want to edit every single province history for that).

That is understandable. How's it going by the way? I know it's a lot of work with all the new provinces, but me and two friends had just gotten this mod a few weeks ago and we're anxious to play it again.

Slow because I'm busy with work and general life stuff, but I've been working on the country tag list to remove unused North American native states so they don't conflict with the mod and removing their corresponding ideas.

Hello. I tried to play the mod (in 1.7.3 mode). When I loaded up the game, the map seemed unchanged. So I checked the "American Independance" scenario to see if tht was the way and it crashed. Should I disable certain DLC? I had no other mods running at the time. Can't tell you how excited I am to play this.
Any ETA on an update?

Life has been quite rough lately and I've been moving a lot due financial trouble that started in 2013 catching up to me. Things were okay until September and again late October when I had pretty much find a way to live with less and less. Things have required a temporary absence from most of my online presence, once I get back on my feet things will return to normal. I really didn't want to talk about it but I've had no choice as it's been three weeks now of me with access to my computer or the internet besides my phone.

I understand the frustration, as it gets to me as well. I'm not looking for sympathy nor looking for help, except modders to help with the mod.

I look to resume modding ASAP, but I deliberately gave myself four months to work on the mod in case things turned out this way. It sucks that it did.

is there a way to edit the modfile to pretend to be compatible with the current version like some other mods are able to do?

@SNKN, the problem is the new provinces. If you want to play it, revert to 1.7.3 under "Betas" in your game options.

An Update of sorts.

Finished the map for the most part Christmas week, renumbering province ids currently, and added a few new events. Right now my computer has only the 1.8.0 files from October so I'm way behind on that due to a lack of reliable internet access. Things have sped up now that I have more time to work on it. If you see me on Steam, it's likely me on my cell phone (like now, posting this) or visiting a friend using their computer.

I'm also taking time this month to find a better job as my current job pays so little that it's why things got so bad recently. Having $20k in college debt doesn't help either.
