Star Wars: Legacy of the Old Republic

Should you customize ships yourself, or will the AI be competent enough?
TLDR; Should I manually design ship/base designs or continue to let the AI do it? It doesn't seem to like using starfighter bays.

Playing Alderaan and hitting 2400 on the ass end of the boot end of some Mandalorians, but I'm sitting here absolutely pumping out research, industry and building fleets.

Problem is, I'm worried the AI is choosing to put turrets on the ship designs instead of starfighter bays because it isn't properly considering the star wars themed fighters. Am I supposed to customize the ship designs myself because of the extensiveness of the mod and it's effects on the auto-designers output?

I would advise always to customize your ships even in vanilla. The auto-designer makes okay-ish designs but never as good as a human could do. I only use the auto-designer in fast multiplayer games where I dont have time to set up designs.

Thanks for the response.

It gets a bit cumbersome when your research starts really flying and you have 2-4 front lines to cover. I dealt with it by updating ships in waves; after so much research I'd redesign. Still, the logistics of pulling fleets back for updates has been a challenge. I'm curious on what I could do differently. Hm

I Usually try and get a shipyard on the frontline. if I can't afford a whole second starbase behind my bastions, I just slot one shipyard module in so it can slowly but surely upgrade a fleet stationed on my border.
