Can't become supreme chancellor
Despite having more diplomatic weight in the Galactic Republic than anyone else there's never any option to nominate or elect myself to the position. I'm playing as the Courscantii Union but I don't know if I'm doing something wrong.

elections happen in the last 365 days of the current supreme chancellor. when it happens click on your goverment tab where it shows your leader and to the right of your leaders portrait the nominate button should appear. If you miss it you have to wait a whole term again before you can nominate your leader again

also I don't think the elections are based on diplomatic weight but more about your relationships with the other states.

You can use console commands to add favor to your faction.
