Stats for example
+15% more damage
-17% chance of backfiring (you recieve damage)

how about it has 6 shots in a clip, and it has 50% slower firing speed, and only 1 shot fires. *so meaning you can just spam click to find the right one, but that one shot does 200% more damage and has a 100% chance to crit (so basicly its a 1 hit kill). Only problem is you never know which shot will fire. maybe for balancing it will just be 100% crit or maybe even slower firing speed.
or: you can right-click while in spawn to adjust your "stakes", which will appear next to your ammo as a fraction ranging from 1/6-5/6. if set at 1/6, it will do 1/6th more damage than the default shotgun, but you will have a 1/6 chance of shooting yourself. if you choose 2/6, you will have 33.3% more damage but an equally high chance of shooting yourself. this continues in the same way until you reach 5/6, giving you nearly double damage, but making it almost impossible to shoot at others, while 1/6-3/6 may be used in combat, the higher numbers would be better used if your team is being spawn killed, and your respawn timer is relatively low.

make it simple maybe? unless your weapon is part of the steampunk series (cow mangler, pomson) valve doesn't seem to like complex stats.

+15% weapon switch speed
Mini-crits players with less than 50% health
After killing an enemy, you are marked for death momentarily

I dont think the stats should be inspired by russian roulette. Other than random crits, TF2 is NOT a game of chance in general. Weapons need to have unique mechanics that change the way you play. e.g. loose cannon, direct hit. In this case, im suggesting a weapon that is best for 1 on 1 situations and finishing off retreating enemies.

I think this weapon shouldn't be random at all. Weapons that have randomness can be just frustrating. (Random crit flamethrower and rocket launcher I'm looking at you!) I think it should be -20% damage. But for each shot, if you deal at least 40 damage, the next shot will do 10% more damage, but for the next require at least 60 damage, And so on until you run out of clip.

The Russian Roulette
6 shots in the chamber maximum.(Russian Roulette tradition)
-Has a chance of not shooting depending on how many shells are in the chamber.
+20% more damage for each time a shot isn't fired.(Risk-reward factor for the chance of not shooting)
+Crits on Headshot.(I don't mean instakill,I mean like ambassader type with proximity damage added to the equation)
-Cannot Random Crit.(Obviously, this gun would be too OP otherwise)

I think the gun should work like that because it is luck based, just like the game itself, that gun points at you, there is a chance, you will die.

I think this weapon should be like this:

Magazine: 4-6 shots
-15% firing speed
Mini-crits turn into critical hits. Or it has a certain percentage to turn a mini-crit into a crit.

60% more accurate
-50% pellet count

+10% damage
+More accurate

On succesful shot
1% chance for crit hit
9% chance for minicrit hit

On unsuccesful shot : hit yourself

9% Mark yourself for death
1% Kill yourself

- Some shots doesn't fire anything at all 10% chance

35% chance for succesful shot ( counted without the succesful shot bonus )

35% chance for failing shot ( Without failing bonus )

This Gun is really something some shots may count and some shot might poot the bullet straight through your brain

Pro's:
After every kill with this shotgun, you gain all of your health back.

Con's:
-50% clip size (3 bullets)
-25% ammo capacity (24 bullets)

This is the offensive Sandvich. But the bullet size reductions counter it.

95% chance to hit target
5% chance to shoot yourself. Idiot.

IN MOTHER RUSSIA
GUNS SHOOT YOU

Well,if you think about it,that is how the real game works, you usually end up shooting yourself in the head, but the gun ain't facing you in this case.

+20% firing speed
On hit:Fills a bar(Similar to the soldier's rage bar)When the bar is full,press m2 to get either Instant mini-crits,refill health,or +50% movement speed for 10 seconds.

+10% damage vulnerability on wearer
-15% damage penalty
-Takes 20% longer to reload
-30 health on wearer
