What is those little things in every level?

I found, what looks like a small little bronze or silver star which you can pick up on every single level in intro or outro, in well hiding spots. What is their purpose? Something like in hotline miami 1 with its secret ending if you collect them all? Can someone explain it please

I am wondering the same thing. They look like little acid vials or some sort of keys.
