[Help][VR] VRMod FAQ (Read this for VR help!)

1. What do I need for VR?
  • You need a VR Headset that is compatible with VRMod. It should work with any major PC VR system on the market.
  • A decent Computer that can handle VR. (e.g. AMD ryzen R5 1600 & GTX 1060 or better)
  • SteamVR installed and ready to use.
  • VRMod installed and ready to use.
Note: I do not recommend to buy your self into VR just for VRMod or this addon. It is very expensive and you should have better reasons for it than just some GMod addons.

2. How to install VRMod?
Go to the Workshop Page of VRMod and read the description. Please get your VR support from the VRMod project.

3. How to start the VR mode?
You enable it via the VRMod controls or via a concommand. See Workshop Page of VRMod for more details. The radio automatically recognizes mode changes seamlessly on the fly.

4. Why doesn't VR not work for me?
Please get your support from the VRMod project.

5. My VR does not work correctly for my device/setup. Can you help me?
No, I can't. I can not give device support unless I own the device/setup or it is paid for me. Please get your VR support from the VRMod project.
The device I test on: Valve Index + Knuckles (Index) Controllers

6. Do I need VR for this addon?
No, the VR is completely optional for this addon. It already works fine without VR.

7. Why VR?
This addon existed a way before VR was a thing, but it's design actually works well in VR in theory. However out of the box this addon was broken in VR mode, so I added some minor tweaks to support it. Another reason is that I just like innovation.

In combination with other VR capable addons this addon can add to an immersive experience.

8. How to use the radio in VR?
It should be quite intuitive to use. You either touch the display with your right player's hand or aim and press the trigger button of your right controller. For both you need to have the VRMod Empty Hands "weapon" equipped. The touch and trigger controls can be disabled in the radio addon settings individually.
Notes:
  • Both controls only recognize the right hand/controller.
  • Touch can be inaccurate, especially for smaller displays. It works better with a fist instead of a stretched index finger. Better use aim/trigger for these cases.
  • VR aim/trigger control does not work from inside vehicles. Touch still does.

9. Why does VR radio control not work from inside vehicles properly?
Because the VRMod API does not handle vehicles very well yet. It can be inaccurate, especially while moving. There is also no good button on the controler for aim/trigger control to use while driving.
In Non-VR using the radio from vehicles still works fine and as usual.

i tried enabling it it doesnt work when i join servers that have the addons

I will check if the VR support still works on this addon today. But general VR problems are not problems of this addon (see above). Please ask the VR Mod support for help on general VR problems. If you still think it is a problem with this addon, please be more descriptive.

@MrFuzzerkins: I did the test: The VR support still works as intended. Your problem report is invalid until further details are given.
