Issues with inspirations/aspirations
Adding new inspirations is cool and all, but it seems like they follow the vanilla "skill level 3" requirement, which makes it a lot more difficult to get relevant inspirations because the pool is now much larger. My pawns are constantly getting inspirations that are completely unrelated to anything they do, and I've had to disable the aspiration system because they get hit with mood maluses left and right.

I like the idea, but I'm most likely going to disable the new inspiration system so my pawns can make masterworks/legendaries again instead of being sad that I didn't let them give the entire colony a quadrum of botulism with their -5 cooking skill.

I can't think of a solution off the top of my head that wouldn't let players cheese the system by using "awful skill" genes to remove skill level/passions and narrow down the inspiration pool to pretty much only include the generic inspirations (shooting, movement, etc.) and a targeted skill inspiration (like creativity), but that'd be my suggestion if that kind of balance isn't a concern.

In vanilla, pawns can get inspirations in any skill for which they have a learned level of 3 or above, so you'll often get pawns with inspirations in skills they suck at. It's especially noticeable with a gene that reduces their skill level.

Turning off aspirations doesn't change the new inspiration descriptions from this mod, but it disables the mood hit from not fulfilling them.

Turning off the new inspirations won't fix pawns getting inspirations in poor skills, since that's a vanilla issue. It just disables the new inspirations from this mod, which reduces the pool of inspirations you can end up with (no more inspired cooking/planting hogging up your crafters' potential inspirations).

So is there no way to turn off the new inspirations at all? I have both inspirations and aspirations disabled in the mod's settings, but I still get the new ones.

I don't want the pool of possible inspirations diluted with those new ones.

Absent any reply on how to turn of the new inspirations, I made a quick patch mod for the inspirations in this mod (as well as the vanilla ones) to change the skill level requirement from 3 up to 8, so only pawns at skill level 8 or higher will get the inspiration for that skill.

I've played with it like that for a day now and it's a big improvement.

My pawns are getting inspirations for things in which they have literally zero skill. I turned off inspirations in the mod settings and they are still receiving inspirations from this mod. I am enjoying the mod but these wasted inspirations are a dealbreaker for me. Unfortunately, when I tried to remove the mod it bricked my save. Please, please fix this!! In the meantime, @Jaggid_Edge if you could share your patch mod I would be most grateful!

Are their unadjusted skill levels 3 or above? If their base skill level is 3, they're eligible for an inspiration related to that skill in vanilla as well.

I guess it's to stop players from only getting inspired creativity by giving a crafter "awful" genes in everything else? but all it really does is waste time

I suggest using the Inspiration Tweaks mod now that it has been updated. It does the same thing that my patch did, and more. I only made the patch that I did because, at the time, Inspiration Tweaks needed an update to 1.5 yet.

I did actually discover and install inspiration tweaks shortly after I posted the above message, which has helped. Unfortunately, my animal handler also has > 8 plants skill and keeps receiving "inspired planting," which as far as I can tell does nothing but allow her to plant anything regardless of skill...which is absolutely useless since she can already plant everything. After the third time she received a useless inspiration rather than inspired taming, I again when searching for solutions and discovered I could use dev mode to manually give her inspired taming...except dev mode pawn actions are not working for me, probably due to some mod or other that I have installed. SO, finally, I discovered the Character Editor mod, and now my animal handler finally has inspired taming.

It sure would be great if the mod authors fixed this issue, but in the meantime at least I have (finally) arrived at a workaround.
