I've did this on ultimate with Absolute Zero (one that burns to put ongoing to play), Legacy, Eternal Hala, Tachyon (one that checks two bottom cards of a deck) and Necro. It was fairly easy, and should not pose any serious issue, especially with three possible dmg blocks. Basically, keep it's appendages under control, dot boss and put in the first round Absolute Zero ongoing that makes EoVT act SoVT (end/start of villain turn). I don't remember where it was, though. Probably Chasm with djinni, I really like that enviro. :)

This tactic won't work on the more advanced modes, I think - but I generally focused on the worst of the limbs, and left exactly one alive. Then wailed on Anathema. As long as one is left alive, Anathema won't flip, and as long as only one is alive, Anathema won't do that much to you.

The worst part in my last fight is that the equipment-destroying arm kept coming up *every* turn, for some reason (may have been the environment manipulating that, somehow). So the fight took forever... but I still won.

Anathema is the only villain I was able to beat on the first try actually. I think the trick is to reduce his limb count substantially, but not kill them all off. This prevents him from rebounding in goop form, while managing his damage output.

Speaking of damage output the damage of villains in the cauldron often seems bloated compared to most of the villains in the official game.

Like that tends to be a thing with fan-created content, its often made by more 'hardcore' fans and thus ramps up the difficulty,

I was just thinking that with Mistress of Fate, as I repeatedly watched all my heroes get knocked out in a single villain turn immediately after resetting the timeline.
