Can we get 256x256 textures please?
Can we get this resolution for every item and not just the seeds (for zoom mod)?

Also the plants are very "pale" and "foggy" looking (washed-out, and needs a little more depth). Try to make them a bit brighter and darker and the same time, make them stand out a little. However it is your mod, just a suggestion.

Yep I can work on that - I based the texture sizes on Vanilla Textures Expanded as I had a few issues with them not displaying correctly when they were bigger than that (which was in the very early stages so I didn't know what I was doing at all at that point)

You are not the only person to mention that - the idea was to make them look like they were the source of the light but I may have gone a bit too far with it. I'll see what I can do when I attempt the higher res textures.

What a hearty response, and thank you so much for that.
There is a reason why I like a bit more depth with textures (stands out a little). I use this texture overhaul below and it has a certain style to it as well which I think you can tell.

PS: I hope to see far more mod textures from you in the future. Personally I think these textures you made are already far better than the previous ones.

No problem, this is my first foray into making videogame graphics so I am very much looking for constructive criticism.

That's not one I am familiar with so I will take a look, there are quite a lot of graphics mods for Rimworld so I won't be able to match them all but I definitely would prefer not to clash horribly with any of them.

I'm glad you want to see more, hopefully the next set I produce will look decent on monitors other than mine :P

I actually chose his/her texture overhaul because it touches all textures (complete overhaul), makes them have a little more "detail", more crisp, and they are all high resolution (good for zoom mod, which is mandatory nowadays for most).

I have no doubt you will improve, you are already very talented. I wish a you a good day, and good luck on future mods.

By lighter and darker, do you mean more saturated? I agree, the textures could use some vibrancy

I'm currently redoing all the artwork with higher saturation and contrast

Yes, this is sort of what I meant.

Very good to hear!

@Fluffysminion Whenever i get art done i just try and match Vanilla Textures Expanded as its the most subbed overhaul. Quite alot of others also follow that example as well so it all blends smoothly.

@SalmonToastie Vanilla textures expanded was what I based them on in the first place, I used the texture size and tried to get the style from them as well

Vanilla textures expanded is improved from original textures BUT they are not very detailed textures. Very washed out and outdated compared to tons of new texture mods and overhauls. They had their time in the spotlight. Now I only use them because of their features.
Id say jabbamonkey, lto, gloomys, cattleyas, apparello 2 vees apparel, and all their overhauls are far superior today (sadly many are low resolution). And lets not even compare the animal reskins from "hellcross" with vanilla expanded ones (or the bugs for that matter)... I mean THAT is how textures should look like today this far into the modding tools, with FAR more details, and more crisp. Imo comparing these two makes vanilla animals look like a joke (they only improved resolution while hellcross litteraly made them look completely different and detailed).

@Greenpakto Personally I like the more abstract less detailed art style, the gloomy textures are pretty but they are not very Rimworld-like to me. I think that's a case of personal preference.

This is exactly why I rank Hellcross animals so high. He has the similar "style" as vanilla (not like gloomy or cattleya), BUT he just adds depth and details. Id go as far as to say this is what I would like to see Rimworld 2 look like but for every textures of course. While textures like gloomys changes the artstyle completely (maybe a bit too much for some).

But its true as you say, everything is personal preference indeed. But I think its fun to see when modders/artists try to expand on textures a little and take it a little further, like hellcross did. I highly recommend you take a look at his mod if you have not.
