Suggestion : Shadow of mordor, Talion/Brightlord conflict
Mordor is kinda OP, I think if the devs think about adding the talion/brightlord conflict in mordor, would be really cool, also balances out mordor being op, what do you guys think

Well the Shadow of Mordor stuff is not exactly canon with Tolkien's work.

yes this would be cool

It would work great as a civil war to neuter Mordor in the early game a bit

@Fipse to be fair the mod adds a lot that is clearly not Tolkien canon, and that is fine since it helps add detail to the many places Tolkien did not really expand upon in his works.

I think a Shadow of Mordor scenario could be fun, though maybe if nothing else to satisfy the lore-purists, it could be made into a submod.

Cool idea, but doesn't Shadow of War take place like 30 years before LOTR? So while playing as Talion would be dope it would also be anachronistic. Also, as annoying as it is Mordor is meant to be OP as hell.

I was actually thinking about making a submod for it! Cool that so many people are into it. Lore-wise, unfortunately it happens 1000 years before the actual timeline. Therefore it could be added on a different starting date, before the mordor was unified, we could have several orc warlords fighting for supremacy, because a small rebellion vs the whole mordor would just make no sense (mordor is too op). It's also accurate lore-wise, because Sauron only reappeared "officially" after the take of Minas-Ithil (Minas Morghul) by the Nazguls. Although ck3 mods are generally not meant to be 100% lore friendly, since for most stories, we don't have enough information about the whole world.

Optional Rule. Make it optional for those that want it and job done. Any start can then use it or not.

Love the idea. Liked the games. I especially like a less predictable start.

A submod could work, but as we are early in development, eventually whoever is doing it will likely lose interest before the final version of the mod.
This would be dope.

The problem is less that Shadow of Mordor isn't canon, it's more that it breaks the lore in fundamental ways.

Not really or we are not talking about Tolkien's work. Shadow of Mordor is just a generic flavorless assassin's creed game. It may have taken place in a total different generic fantasy universe without much differences on the story.

I have nothing against a non-cannonical story but it's sad to see people consider it as canon at the point I had some debates in the past with people convinced Talion was a Tolkien's character. The whole Celebrimbor wraith thing is going against Tolkien's work and the game doesn't even feel like it takes place in Middle Earth. No adventure, no exploration, no wonderful places... just orcs bashing and high-fantasy magic spells.

I consider Desolation of Mordor to be canon‽
=p

No, Shadow of Mordor and Shadow of war fundamentally diminish the setting. Making the realms under Sauron more unstable and more prone to civil strife doesn't require completely changing the state of Sauron, Shelob, wraiths, death and Character history of many important historic figures like Helm Hammerhand.
