Bug Reports/Balance Issues
Since other mods do this, I guess I might as well jump on the bandwagon and leave this thread here if you want to report any bugs, or any issues with balance, particularly if events fire too frequently or not frequently enough. Please check the FAQ first before posting a bug report just in case, and make sure you're aware of what other mods are doing - for example, since VIET adds in events, it's unlikely (though not impossible) it is causing characters to look funny, since that might be caused by a mod modifying character graphics.

Most importantly, when posting a bug report, please provide as much information as you can. Something like "I have a CTD" won't really help me get to the bottom of the issue, if there is one. Details you may want to mention include the following (this is not an exhaustive list):

  • A description of what's going on (you'd be surprised how many people miss this crucial step!)
  • A screenshot of the bug or issue, if possible
  • Explaining what you were doing when the issue occurred, especially if it keeps happening in the same situations over and over again
  • Anything you notice in the error log (if you know what that is)
  • If you are running with any other mods

Personally I think the events need to offer more, I think the standard I'm seeing is like 5 prestige, 5 piety, etc. Should be higher I think

@Def!ed The idea behind the low bonuses or maluses is that a lot of these events like talking with your servant or eating a salad are so inconsequential or ordinary that you wouldn't be getting much out of them. I don't know if you played the CK2 version of my mod, but I actually increased the bonuses of the CK3 version by comparison (they range from 1 to ~20 for most events with the average of ~5, in contrast to ~1 to 5 for the CK2 version with a lower average), as I felt CK3 inflated the amount of the resources you got.

However, after some further playing in the past couple of days, I think I may need to inflate the bonuses even more. It probably won't be the next update, but probably the one or two after the upcoming update I'll go back and change the range from ~1-50, with the average being around 5-25 (instead of the average ~5 and range ~1-20 as I have it now), which would still be low relative to the vanilla game as intended but hopefully a bit more consequential for the player.

This mod seems to have trouble in Multiplayer. Me and my friend found this mod specifically to be the problem when we tried to play with mods. The message kept popping up that we had different mods installed when we tried to join. We had everything in check, mods were in order and checksum was the same and yet we were having trouble. Disabled this mod and all the others worked fine. Fantastic mod though!

@mackintosh Hmm... I feel like that most likely isn't an issue with this mod per se (though of course stranger things have happened). I know similar issues with various mods in the past in other PI games - in fact I explicitly recall experiencing something similar while doing Stellaris MP with my cousin and friend in the past, and there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason why it happens to certain mods at certain times for certain people. Tbh I don't really have a fix for that, other than if you want to try running it again, is for both of you to unsubscribe from the mod, load into the game without the mod, and then subscribe again, and if possible even do that a few times just to be safe, and then hope that somehow resets things.

Oh, one other possibility, make sure you're both using the same version of the mod, i.e. don't have one person using the Steam version and one person use the manual install version. Speaking of which, if you were attempting it with the Steam version, you can try using the manual install version as a last resort, making sure you both download and install the same version. With the Stellaris MP I mentioned above, I think that's how we solved it.

Is it OK me posting things I find like this? I am trying to learn CK3 modding as it has been a few years since I made CK2 mods and I am learning by reading through other people's mods. A bit cheeky I know, but there are no other ways at the moment I fear.

@Thomas Oak: Another good catch! I've fixed that. And no worries, I don't mind at all. If you're familiar with GitHub I have a link to the GitHub of the mod in the description you can use (if you're not familiar that's nbd, I'm cool with posting random little things here too). I actually figure things out by copypasta'ing code from vanilla or other mods, too, so I totally get it.

i dont know if its a effect of the multiplayer server update but even putting this in its own mod list i cant get the mod to load ingame. im having problems with other mods too sojust curious if its anything specific

@Laffy I've had similar issues myself trying to get mods to load in multiplayer with Stellaris, and have heard of it with several other PI games. Unfortunately the only thing I can advise you to do is try to old trick of unsubscribing and re-subscribing a bunch of times. If all else fails, try downloading the manual install version of my mod and using that, as that would guarantee the files you're using are identical (though do be aware I am uploading a new version of the mod later tonight).

You mean the manual Github version? That's very odd though I guess with RNG it's technically not implausible. If you're not using ironman, go on the console and type in the following console commands: "event VIETmisc.1" or "event VIETold.1"

If events pop up, then the mod is working fine and you probably have a really really bad case of RNG. If the events don't pop up and the console says it doesn't recognize the event, then that means there is probably an issue with how you installed the mod.

Spitting out a lot of errors in the log with your latest update on game version 1.1. One of the things is from PDX changing how they handle create_title_and_vassal_change effect.
