Suggestions & Planned Changes/Features
Here you can post suggestions, and you can also find the list of any currently planned changes.

Planned Changes/Features
  1. Make unique Metropolises.
  2. Make Metropolises actually contain wonders. Possibly with a new interface.

Cities of Wonders 2 is now considered feature complete.
It's very unlikely that any future suggestions will be added to Cities of Wonders 2.
That doesn’t mean you should not post any suggestions, since they may very well be included in a future project. (Hint. Hint. Maybe in COW3.)

Can we get a version of this mod that works with the Imperial Government mod?

I made a patch, which requires you to have both the regular Cities of Wonders 2 and Imperial Government enabled.

Imperial Government compatibility patch: COW2-IG Compatibility
thanks man!!

Would it be possible (if not, sorry for bothering you) to remove the Empire requirement to make a new Metropolis? I usually like to play from Norse, to Norman, to English and having to conquer the whole of GB and Ireland takes a while to get going. Maybe increase the cost if made at Kingdom level? Double gold/prestige/piety payment or have to be a Living Legend (maxed fame)?

I do have a question, it says once per game, but what if you change characters to another section of the world, does it still not work?

It's never a problem to ask reasonable questions. :)

It's not meant to be easy to found a Metropolis. You circumvent the normal cost for building a Metropolis (at 15,000 gold). But, it's a good idea about introducing alternate requirements. Like you suggested, being King-tier, max fame and increased cost sounds like a sensible alternative.

You can only found one Metropolis in total globally via that decision. You can still of course build a Metropolis through the usual holding interface.

I didn't know about the option to build them in the building menu, shame since you wouldn't be able to change the Duchy capitals into them but nice to know others could be built.

Any chance you could add the ability to replace holdings? The function appears to be there because the replace button appears in the castle, temple, and city upgrade windows, but when I click it, it opens the normal building window instead which can't go into the holding slot.

That interface is just for replacing buildings, not holdings. It will require modding in a completely new and different interface for it to work for holdings. It is not something that is going to happen anytime soon.

Would it be possible to make compatibility patch for Usable Cities mod? I already asked author of the mod in question some time ago, but so far nothing so I’m trying here. Regardless thank you for this mod, it’s great.

It's technically possible, but I can't make or maintain compatibility patches for every single mod that alters the governments. That's just not viable at the moment for me to do.

Also, I suspect that Usable Cities are a very simple mod that you can make yourself. It would only require you to replace or put this in for every government type you want:
valid_holdings = { cow_metropolis_holding city_holding }

Thanks a lot that was actually all there was to it. WOW :winter2019joyfultearsyul: Already modified CoW2 and it functions just like you said it would. Thank you again.

That’s not going to happen anytime soon. Adding a search bar is not a simple thing to do. I could add in a convert button in the holding interface, but it would cause mod incompatibility issues with any other mod that alters same window. I’m not interested in doing that for a feature you aren’t even meant to use that frequently.
