Coding nightmare?
What is the "battleship coding nightmare"? Is that some kind of bug?

Battleship design overhaul is where I start coding this mod, the coding there was just the extended of the original coding. Their slot go from front_1,front_2,front_3, ..., mid_1, mid_2, mid_3, rear_1, rear_2 and goes on. Unlike other ships types' slots ,that name with their equipment names, it was a nightmare to change anything.

How do you decide how many slots each ship gets? And where can I find the information about balance changes that have been made?

I've noticed some weirdness with the mod.

The pictures are confusing for the gun turret modules. It says Two-gun but shows three-gun turrets. It says Four-gun but shows three-gun turrets. https://i.imgur.com/VVFGAVt.png

If it says Two-gun Turret then shouldn't the picture have turrets with two barrels? If it says Three-gun Turret then the picture should show turrets with three barrels? If it says Four-gun Turret then the picture should show turrets with 4 barrels?

This is something else I noticed weird. Not sure if it's supposed to be like this or not. In the screenshots you can see that the Turret with better stats only affects speed -2%. Whereas the Turret with worse stats affects speed by -4%. https://i.imgur.com/Zv5LBR7.png

Sorry, my drawing is not as good as my coding I cannot draw new image for Two-gun turret. However, if anyone want it that much and draw it for this mod, I am happy to put it into the mod.

For the Turret Speed Reduction it represent what the weight of turret would do to the speed of the ship.

For the Bug problem I cannot replicate your problem.

I think this mod might be having a side effect of making Shore Bombardment much harder. In vanilla you need I think 250 Heavy Gun points to get the maximum -25% shore bombardment to enemy Divisions. Or you need 500 Light Gun points. But if this mod changes the stats of guns then it might make it virtually impossible to do good shore bombardment.

Wiki: "Shore Bombardment: The magnitude of this effect is determined by the firepower of the ships involved: each point of heavy gun damage contributes -0.1% to enemy attack and defense, while each point of light gun damage contributes -0.05%. Total reduction from shore bombardment is capped at -25% (even if you have traits that increase shore bombardment).
The General trait Naval Liaison as well as the Admiral trait Ground Pounder increase shore bombardment, but not beyond the -25% cap."

I just noticed the Fuel Tanks for Submarines are gone. Seems like another bug.

As there is only one kind of "ship_super_heavy_secondaries" which is "ship_super_heavy_secondaries_1". If it is installed, there is no other option for you to install.

It seems that my mod's shore bombardment is better than that of the base game. Can you send me some screenshot to show your problem?

Because this looks like a "report bugs" discussion I post this here.

First Great mod and thanks for your effort.

While looking through the Nations I noticed someship designs that looked wrong.

I start with the UK:

Nelson and the G3 design (thanks for including it) have 2-Gun instead of 3 gun turrets.
Renown has 4 instead of 3 15in 2 Gun turrets

County class cruisers turrets are in the wrong positions

Arethusa class has to much guns and some are positoned wrong (it had 3 two gun 6in turrets)
Leander class one 6in 2 gun turret is in the wrong position

France:

the Courbet Class have the right number of guns but maybe 4x3 config would be better because it had 2 turrets facing aft and two forward
if you stay with the maximum of 4 main gun turrets for BB the Bretagnes are fine within this config

Dunkerque and Richelieu class all have 3 Main gun turrets 2 front one rear ( only 2 front historicly)

French cruiser secondary was dual purpouse but some guns were better than others
Algerie:
turret and gun number for main guns is right position is wrong (no turrets are aft all are forward)

secondary is missing completely (should have 3 two gun mounts per side)

the one catapult is a nice detail

maybe give her better armour because she had 110mm Belt and 30-80 mm deck

maybe remove the mines as far as I know she didnt carry mines

for all the french Heavy cruiser they had 2 3 tripple torpedo mounts


Maybe think pf seperating the Duquense and Tourvile, Suffren and Dupleix, and Colbert and Foch in seperate clases because they have they are diferent from each other

Dugay-Trouin class

Main guns like Leander

secondary 4 single 75 mountings

4x3 torpedotubes

catapults are fine

Pluton is a single ship

4x1 138 guns 2 for 2 aft
4x1 75 secondary gun for secondary
no torpedo mounts


Jean d´Arc was a single ship too
4x2 155mm main guns 2 fore 2 aft
4x1 75mm secondary

2x1 torpedo tubes
one plane but no catapult but if it gets one for game reasons it is not wrong
no mines

Emile Bertin
3x3 152mm main guns 2 fore 1 aft
2x1 and 1x2 90mm secondary guns
2x3 topedotubes
mines

La Galissonnière Class

3x3 152mm 2 fore 1 aft
4x2 90mm secondary

torpedo tubes are right


Germany

Pre Dreadnoughts have 4x2 305mm guns but they should have 280mm guns
secondarys look fine, but the didnt carry planes

Hipper design looks good too
only the 4x3 torpedotubes and the 105mm dual purpouse secondary is missing

Scharnhorst
looks good but, thnks for adding the option for torpedo tubes
maybe add the 105mm dual purpouse gun as socondry for Germany

Deutschlands looks fine only the 2 tier secondary battery Scharnhorst style is missing

Leipzig one Main gun turret to much it had 3x3 one forward two aft (the gun was called SK C/25 (L/60 for the length)
plane is fine 4x3 torpedotubes are missing
minelaying is fine too

Königsberg same as Leipzigs

Emden is faily unique and complicated but looks not to bad

because i had an limited amount of time I coud not visit every design but I think the general system for gun placement is very good. Maybe add 2 midship turret option for bb and limit it for 2 gun turrets only. I hope for further updates because that mod is a realy good compromise between every gun that ever was and completly overloaded with contant and the awfull thin contend vanilla version.

I dont know if it helps but is it possible to create designs in the editor and than export the files or the code? I could create the designs and than post the code here.
