Rome won't split
I started a game from 61 CE as Picts. It's year 300 and Rome hasn't chosen to split. What makes them want to split? The AI doesn't seem to want to do it. Rome just gets bigger and bigger, wrecking everything.

you have to take a decision to do so

if you play as rome, that is, otherwise it is impossible

Oh. It's a shame it won't split on its own.

AI Rome should split some time around the year 400. If it doesn't it's a bug and I'll look to it.

Will Rome still split as an AI if they lost constantinople. Cause in the peasents war for them, they lost like a mere 5 provinces to a new greece nation, one of which was of course the city of worlds desire

They must still hold Constantinople and Rome to be able to split.

Could we get a definite time period that rome is garunteed to split in, because my Anglican nation is getting nervous with the big red blob eating up my german and other friends to the south.

I started a game before update. I believe its around year 500 and Rome is just growing. Would I have to start a new game to force it to break?

Rome definitely needs a good nerfing. They have extremely OP ideas and start off ENORMOUS. Pax Romana makes it so overextention doesn't mean ♥♥♥♥ to Rome. I suggest forcing the split if it's an AI and also making an event where the Barbarian tribes start attacking West Rome. West Rome just allies and vassalizes the German states and eats the rest.

I'm in year 444 and roman empire hasn't split. I started the game in year 300~ something. Maybe that messed it up?

@paj that has nothing to do with it. The decision was made with EXTREMELY little motive for the AI to do it, so it just says "dafuq is this?" and shoves it aside.

So in my game roman empire will never split? It gobbles up everything. :/

Unless your in Ironman mode or something, i would save, go in as rome, start the split, save, and go back to your nation.

But let me say, if you can get Rome to split, then if east and west fight, Europe turns into a blood bath that you can take grand advantage of.

If they split, one of the sides usually gets an advantage. I'm glad that it can vary, though. It changes it up. I've had Byzantium be really good but I've also had Western Rome wreck everyone.
