Playtesting Grounds
Developing this mod takes so much of my time that I haven't got much left for testing. That's why I need your help in order to make the mod balanced and bugfree.

Anyone can post their playtest reports, but to make things easier for me all reports should meet the following creteria:
- Test one of the scenarios listed below.
- The point of this thread is to help me see how the AI and the game mechanics behave on long term. You should use the observer-mode or play in another part of the world in order to see how the AI manages things on its own.
- Each playtest report should include the following information:
- Who did you play or were you observing.
- When did you start
- When did you finish
- It doesn't matter if you fail to get some of the points. Every piece of information is still valuable.
- Screenshots aren't required, but they are a good way of showing how thigs developed.

The areas of history you can playtest:

1. Fall of Rome
A report should meet the following criteria:
- Startdate before 395
- Enddate after 480
A report should answer the following questions:
- Did Rome split. If it did, when
- Did Rome survive. If it did, how large was it
- What countries, if any, took land from the Romans

2. Spread of Christianity
A report should meet the following criteria:
- Startdate before 395
- Enddate after 600
A report should answer the following questions:
- Did Rome convert to Christianity. If it did, when
- Whan barbarian tribes, if any, converted to Christianity
- Rough description about how wide Christianity spread
- How wide did Arianism spread

3. Spread of Islam
A report should meet the following criteria:
- Startdate before 627
- Enddate after 700
A report should answer the following questions:
- What country became the caliphate and how large was it
- How large did the caliphate become
- Rough description about how wide Islam spread

Will there ever be? Because this is by far the best mod I have ever played For EU4 but not being able to play with friends makes it less fun.

Barbarian Invasions and The Fall of Rome
- Startdate February 1, 58
- Enddate 430 - CORRUPTED SAVE

- Did Rome split. NOPE
- Did Rome survive. NOPE

- Around year 200 Rheged owned all of England and Wales except for Norfolk and Essexs. By 400 they were conquering the Picts and attempting to unite the British Isles.
- Around year 400 Ireland was formed.
- The Barbarian invasions started around year 350 and started tearing Rome limb from limb. Hannover nearly united the barbarian realms and they, with Almanni, Suebi, Marcomanni, Quadi, and Gepids starting taking land from the north at a rapid and terrifying rate. Rome started disassembling from all of the conquered land, forming barbarian tribes such as the Viisigoths. Roma fell to Suebi before year 400.
- The rest of history is documented in picture form.

The Camera was invented in the year 400:

You can already see what I typed up in year 400. The madness of the barbarian invasions. No more pictures were taken of Asia or NA simply because nothing interesting was happening there. It was stale.

Year 400 Europe

Year 400 Asia

Year 400 NA

YEAR 405

The conquest of Hannover and Quadi

Year 405 Europe

YEAR 410

It was a quiet five years

Year 410 Europe

YEAR 415

Quadi is once again on the warpath and England is formed, allying with Ireland

Year 415 Europe

Year 415 Religion

YEAR 420

Quadi took over but it is another quiet picture

Year 420 Europe

YEAR 425

It seems like everyone is just trying to recover from all of the conquests and restabilize at this point

Year 425 Europe

YEAR 430

Quadi has claimed more Roman land and smaller nations are on the warpath. Most notably the Gepids

Start date: 228 (I think)
End date: 525 (but ongoing)

I was observing

At first Rome seemed to do very well, there were some early revolts in Austria and England but Rome dispatched them quite easily, and between Roman expansion and barbarian infighting a lot of barbarian tribes were disappearing or becoming insignificant. I feared that the barbarians would not last long enough to take over the Empire. I chose the start date of 228 because I wanted to see how the three kingdoms era in China would work. For a long time each of the three knigdoms seemed to fight everyone but each other. Wei took Xiyu (and after a very long time Southern Xiongnu) while Wu expanded into South-East Asia. Wei seemed to gain the upper hand when it took Tibet followed by Shu, but even to the current end date the War was far from decided between Wei and Wu. Nothing interesting happened in NA. If there were any wars I didn't witness them. The tribes simply migrated to the coasts, or settled down and colonised a very few provinces around them. Absolutely nothing happened in SA. I never even saw rebels. In the early dates Rome was winning every war, but taking a lower and lower percentage of land from each defeated group as time went on. I then went downstairs, and did not see any further developments until 480, when the world looked basically as it does now, but with a few more nations in Arabia. I then went downstairs again for a while, and came back about 5 years ago. I've noticed that even when Byzantium and others have almost every province following one form of Christianity or another, they are determined to keep their faith. Arianism seems to me to be more widespread than Chalcedonism, but again few nations are willing to adopt the religion. I think that the AI should have some sort of coding that tells them to convert if, say, more than half of their provinces follow a Christian religion. Rome did split, but I'm not sure when. All I can for certain is that Byzantium did a lot better than the Western Empire, which is presently down to a few islands. I plan to continue to observe this game and document the Rise of Islam. I've noticed that all Empires seem unwilling to attack Banu Nadir. If this unwillingness continues, Islam shall not rise.

Continued from 525
End date (but still continuing): 664

Again, I was observing

Asia and the Americas do not seem to have changed much. Wei and Wu are still deadlocked in Asia, nothing has happened in South America, and in North America a few more nations have settled and begun colonising their surroundings. If any nations disappeared in North America, I cannot spot them. In Europe, most nations have finally adopted Christianity, although they have adopted Arianism rather than Chalcedonism, which is restricted to a few lesser powers. Byzantium appears to finally be weakening, and from what I can tell the Sassanids took Banu Nadir, formed the Rashidun then changed to Persia. I cannot say with certainty however, since I have only seen the map at the above start and end dates. If it was indeed the Sassanids that founded the Rashidun, their expansion was not especially remarkable. Frisia formed the Netherlands, and the Western Empire regained a little of its territory, although only a few provinces. I believe that the Western Empire shall survive for a long time in the future, but shall never again reach the power it once held. The Ostrogoths and Sarmatians, which I considered quite powerful in 525, have all but disappeared. The Mughals have both lost and gained significant amounts of land, and Denmark has gradually overcome every other nation in Scandinavia.

I later continued the game to 762. In NA, the various nations seem to finally be seriously expanding, and some nations are disappearing, while in SA nothing has happened. In Asia, Wu appears finally to be gaining the upper hand over Wei, although I'm not sure that the war between them shall ever end. The Mughals and Persia appear to be on the slow decline, while the Sarmatians are growing again. Denmark has formed Scandinavia, while England has united the British Isles. The Western Empire has both lost and gained land, while Byzantium is expanding North into Scythia. The decline of Chalcedonism continues, with Armenia disappearing, Greece not getting any stronger, and all the Arian nations gaining more religious unity, eliminating Chalcedon provinces within their borders.

Startdate - February 1, 58
Enddate - In Progress
Playing as Saxony -> Germany

Note to Dev: Uniting the Barbarian Tribes in the North seems way too powerful. I could field an army of nearly half a million before Year 600. It would be interesting to attempt to conquer all of Europe, rebels and all, and just absorb the overextension as something that is going to happen.

Fall of Rome TLDR: The Romans split but did not fall. Nobody really took land from them but I partially attribute this to me, as I had nearly conquered all of the Germanic lands.

Going past the specified enddate, the Western Romans started really disassembling in the year 540. A Peasants War tore them down and threatened to reshape all of Europe (and would have succeeded if I wasn't dilligent in stationing troops all along the border).

Spread of Christianity TLDR: By Year 600 Chalcedonism covered West and South-Central Europe. Druidist still occupied the British Isles. The only remaining Germanic Tribe at this point in the game was Germany and they became 100% Arianism. More details can be seen in the picture for Year 600.

Spread of Islam TLDR: Islam came with a bang and took over one of the strongest countries in the world, Greece/Byzantines. Chaos ensued and Islam became a major religion in a matter of seconds. The pictures for Year 700 explain just how far Islam reached.

Old Gods Bug: The following countries failed to form by the time the HRE Scenario arrived:
Gotland, Kilwa, Mombasa, Mogadishu, Cumans, Pechenegs, Merkits, Tatars, Tuvans

Catholicism has yet to arrise.

Multiple links for each stage showing religion and borders updates after Year 400 when there are important events.

Migration event happened in 336 for me, a decade later for some other tribes. I still don't know how they manage to instantly annex Roman land while still being at war with them.

Rome split on April 19, 387, after increasing pressure from rebels drained the Roman army and started to shatter Western and Central Europe. The Byzantine's army max size is a whopping 9.

In 390, Chalcedonism started spreading heavily, originating from Roma.

After Rome split and the seemingly global peasant war ended, the world came to a standstill. Nothing of interest was happening for a long, long time.

Religion in 415

February, 420. The Council of Romagna. The excommunicated Nestorious and declared the several eastern churches that followed his teachings heretical.

January, 435. Arianism is spreading like wildfire, replacing Chalcedonism in the North and East. The Barbarian Invasions have yet to really take hold as Rome and The Byzantines stabilize. Minor conflicts rage to the east, nothing worth noting. The Byzantines attempt to expand their borders into Dacia. Dacia, fighting on two fronts, is quickly being annexed by its neighbors.

July, 440. Bows were retired for guns in Germany.

January, 445. The Picts and the Romans duke it out. The war ends in an uneasy draw.

January 450. Chalcedonism and Arianism have taken over near all of the previous Roman Empire. Byzantines and the Western Romans are no longer allies.

January, 455. Germany converts to Arian. Chaos ensues.

January, 460. There is a clear division of East and West in Europe. Chalcedonism dominates the Western Roman Empire while Arianism resides in Germanic and Byzantine lands.

January, 465. Dacia is extinct and the Western Romans continue to fight the Picts. Ireland has none of it and remains neutral in the conflict. Germany and the Byzantines continue to expand their borders into their less than welcoming neighbors. Tension is high in Europe but nobody is quiet yet willing to snap. Soldiers line all borders.

January, 470. The Byzantines continue their conquests as Germany reforms into Arian.

Eurasia Map Update Year 470 Border Updates Religion Updates

January, 490. True Religious and Cultural Unity are being realized. The Western Romans are in a constant state of war against the Picts, who refuse to turn England.

After the religious upheavel of the past 50 years, Europe falls quiet. An era of peace ensues.

January, 515. New Barbarian Tribes rise up on the borders of Germany and Sarmations. Frankfurt transfers over to Germany.

January, 520. The Barbarian Tribes are quickly being converted to the one true faith.

January 530. The new Barbarian Tribes rise and fall, one after another. Arianism spreads to the east.

January 535. The Western Romans are involved in a Peasants War. Could this be the time they fall?

January 540. Arianism continues to spread to the east. The Western Romans are disassembling under the weight of the Peasants War. Nearly all of their territories are occupied. It's only a matter of time now. Already Suebi has reformed, the Visigoths have been born, and Galia has gained more land. However, Alemanid, being in the center of it all, has lost a considerable chunk and stands to be wiped out as collateral damage. The Peasants attempt to invade German lands to no avail.

January, 545. The Western Roman Empire has taken massive damage and cannot recover. Arianism has spread into India.

January, 555. Things have once again quieted down. Now that Western Rome has been partially dismantled, there are a plethora of new nations trying to find their way. They will need the help of big nations or rebels if they plan to get anywhere. The Samartians are now experiencing the effects of rebels and stand to lose a great deal of territory in the coming future. The only true stable countries are Han, Germany, Byzantium, Picts, and Ireland. More Barbarian Tribes have appeared on the borders. Arianism is an unstoppable force.

January, 560. The Indian tribes appear to be covering most of the East Coast of North America. Shawnee dominates. Progressing as expected.

January, 575. The Barbarian Conquests continue. Alemanni has been squashed by the Romans and Picts is picking on Ireland. The Romans and Byzantines are starting to war each other. Gallia joins the side of the Byzantines. Arianism is not spreading as aggressively at this point.

January, 585. The Western Romans have had another chunk taken out of them. At this rate they will not last much longer.Germany is the first nation to convert to Western Technology. The impact on their military force is clearly visable. Germany is now the Defender of the Arian Faith.

January, 600. Religious Zeal has more or less disappeared but Christianity has placed it's roots all across Eurasia. Germany continues to expand Eastward.

Peace and prosperity sweeps over the land for decades. The Picts conquer Ireland but nothing else of true importance occurs.

March 627. The Byzantines are now Rashidun. Islam has arrived.

April 627. Rashidun has become Greece. Islam expands.

January, 630. Greece immediately begins Islamic wars for Religious Conquest. They have unified their country's religion at an alarming pace.

January, 635. Greece annexed the majority of Parthia. Sunni seems unstoppable at this point as Greece now commands the largest army in the world.

January, 640. Greece has since slowed down.

January, 655. Greece has been dealing with some internal issues, the Romans and Gallia duke it out, and the Germans expand their borders further. The poor Sarmatians are now split in two, thanks to Greece. The Sunni religion is just as strong as ever.

January, 665. Parthia is gone. Greece is now warring the Western Romans. Missions to retake the holy cities are available and some nations are accepting them.

January, 675. The Greeks are taking a heavy beating from the unlikely Alliance between the Sarmations and Germany. The Western Romans are losing control again as a Peasant War emerges.

January 680. Greece is slowly being dismantled into smaller nations through continuous threats from the North, East, and West. The reach of Islam has lessened, but it is still a considerable force. No one religion dominates the world, let alone Europe.

January, 700 The Western Romans and the Greeks are at it again. A seemingly endless power struggle for Europe. Country borders are defined by religious borders.

World Map Update Year 700 Country Borders Religious Borders

January, 800. The Romans continue to get annexed by their neighbors. Scotland and Hindustan are formed. The Han and Sarmations continue to fight, as does Greece and Germany. There is no peace in this world. Religious borders are strictly defined.

January, 900. The map has changed a great deal over the past century. The Sarmatians are nearly extinct, the Germans and Han have created an alliance, Algiers is a German vassal, and Greek Sudan was formed. There are still no two major countries who share the same religious ideas.

February, 908. Constantinople is taken. Germans everywhere rejoice but the King is upset, as it appears to be impossible to convert the heathans.

January, 1000 The Five Great Empires continue to war against one another. Greece lost most of Northern Africa and Southern Italy to the Romans, only to regain it at the end of the century, the Sarmatians were purged from the land, Han is approaching Europe, Hindustan, while pressured by both Han and Greece, has managed to expand further into Greece and nearly destroy the Parthians, who incidently annexed the last christian nation in Arabia. The Western Romans and Gallia continue to exchange blows and Germany is separating the capitals of major countries from the rest of their nations. No cores remain of the old nations. Switzerland, Austria, and the sort will never return without extreme measures. Religious borders remain relatively fixed, although Constantinople will never be converted (14.5 vs 10.6).

January, 1100 The world has changed a great deal in 100 years, reminicent of several centuries ago. Songhai came and went, the Kanem Bornu-Ghanan Alliance made sure of that. The Principality of Germany, and her 600k troops, has forgone their alliance with the Han and now favors Hindustan while slowly absorbing Gallia and more Greek lands. The Western Romans have made leaps and bounds towards regaining Roman Glory and now reside as the second strongest empire by 70k soldiers, at 200k max. Han is third, Greece fourth, Hindustan rounds out the top five. The now solitary Han are struggling to stay alive, as the Muslim Tech Group of Hinustan overwhelms their numbers with ease. Daksina finally annexed the smaller South Indian nations and the last of Parthia was absorbed by the Greeks. Hindustan is the biggest mover of all of the nations. While they did lose some land to the Muslim Greeks, they conquered much of Han and gained Funan through a claiming of the throne. Hindustan is also working on vassalizing nearby small territories. Religion is as you would expect. Arianism is slowly converting Chalcedonism, Druidist reigns supreme in the British Isles, Sunni dominates the Middle East, Confucian dominates the Far East, and Hindustan is horribly divided between nearly every Non-Christian religion. Annexing Funan did nothing to help that. Constantinople still avoids conversion (14.5% vs 11.6%).

January, 1200 Gallia has nearly been absorbed by Germany. The new German-Hindustan Alliance is quickly eating up the old Han empire, as their inferior Chinese technology pales in comparison. In the East, Japan has started making a move. While initially conquering most of Korea, they have lost a little territory come end of the century. Before long they may look like Gallia, or the Sarmatians. Hindustan continues their great expansion, as they also have begun the annexation of Daksina. Greece and the Western Roman Empire continue their tango, with each successive war ending in Roman victory. Territory is rarely gained. The Ghanan-Bornu Alliance is now defunct. Ghana has started taking land from Kanem Bornu and it appears that Kanem Bornu may not last much longer. Shawnee dominates most of the Eastern Sealine in North America, with Cheyanne owning the North East. The number of tribes is dwindling. Hindustan is still horribly divided and their recent conquests have done nothing to resolve this problem. It's quite possible Hindustan could be the next large empire to disassemble.

Apparently a comment can be no longer than 18000 characters so I am continuing the whole playthrough in a separate comment. It does appear that this game is not designed for a small number of large nations, as there is very little happening. No unstability, few wars, few major events. Pretty bland.

January, 1300 Germany is now on three continents with Ghana being the next victim after Ghana assaulted Kanem Bornu and nearly drove them to extinction. Gallia is no more and Scotland appears to be the next to fall. Hindustan became a lesser partner with Daksina and thus the German-Hindustan alliance fell apart. Hindustan broke free and are independent once more. After doing so, Han quickly jumped on the opportunity and took some land back from both Hindustan and Japan. Hindustan declared war on the Maldieves near the end of the century. Greece and the Western Romans have been much quieter as of late, as the latter half of the century turned peaceful between the two nations. Greece has now added Ifat to their list of countries as a protectorate. Hindustan is not attempting to unite their country under one religion, as they already have religious unity.

January, 1400 Germany vassalized Scotland and has continued their moves on the Western Romans. Meanwhile, Hindustan presses further into Han and presses against Daksina. One of the deadliest wars seen in the history of the game happened mid century, witnessing nearly 1 million dead Germans, 250k dead Han, 200k dead Greek, 300k dead Western Romans, and 50k dead between Daksina, Algiers, and Scotland. Not to mention the hundreds of sunk ships. Nearly half a century later, all of the countries of the world are still recovering. Mass revolts across Eurasia occurred after the first great war, citing Peasants Wars in multiple countries. Hindustan is now Sikh

January, 1500 The newly vassalized Scotland has already proven to be useful to the German forces, colonizing parts of West Africa and moving into the Carribean. The Germans continue their push against the Western Romans and conquered most of Northwest Africa, giving them the opportunity to expand into Ghana, Oya, Benin, and Kanem-Bornu with their 800k men. Algiers has been annexed. The Greeks and Western Romans continue to fight back and forth. The Romans have made more progress than Greece, conquering small European territories in the process. Han and Hindustan continue their stalemate, as nobody wants to make a move lest they be targeted by the other superpowers. Matram has expanded their control over Oceania and Hindustan as other small island nations arise. Religion has yet to change dramatically.

January, 1600 The Greeks and the Western Romans exchange blows and the Romans come out on top.The Greeks are slowly being whittled down. East Asia is still peaceful and quiet, as nobody wants to put themselves in a bad position. Matram is expanding all over Ocenania. The once proud Shawnee have been overwhelmed by the Creek and are now a shell of their former selves. Several Native American nations no longer exist as the relentless expansion of Germany and Scotland is proving to be too much for them. Most of the world is still uninhabiteded. Arian presses onward while most other religions start to dwindle.

So ok. I started to play with Old Prussia (P.S. Why there is no new Units between the Mil Tech lvl: 25-80???) at the year around 220.... Well - Rome started to have problems early in the game... BUT Well the divided countries where somewhat stange, cause for example England divided Momentally as "England" and not like many countries, and also "Gallia" divided as one big country as well as Greece and many other countries... Christianity spreads like a thorttle....... And yes - Roman empire is pratically beaten up with 0 units of army, cause rebels kills all their Units. Rome did not split yet - thou I don't see for them any way to survive.... Also Rome is beaten up by all of their neighbours, even if Rome has two Vassals - Iberia and Armenia (at least these two guys have army of at least 100x times stronger then Rome it self......)....

What tech group had the "latgalia", "Semigalia", "Curronia"? Which countries has the "Barbar" tech group?

Most Germanic nations have the Barbarian tech group, and these should be the focus because they had the most contact with Rome. The theme for many of these units will be interation with Rome.

Began February 1, 58, the Roman-Parthian War historical start, playing as Emishi (Japanese natives), it is now 1355. The world is a very interesting place though I find myself missing some of the familiarity, and wondering why certain countries and religions have not formed. I'd be be very open to using console commands to do so.
