Nuke?
I was wondering....just out of the blue...if it is possible to add a "nuke"? Basicly it requires 19?? (idk when the first one was launched....1964 something like that) and its a decision...it requiered 1mil gold (maybe 5 or 10 mil if it requires it) and it can only be used on neibors (or people of same power if you can)

But when you chose the decision, and event pops up with your neibors and you chose who you want, they lose all their troops (and manpower!) and gets an modifer called "Nuked!" What it does is reduce tax, trade, and production by 100%, make recruitment time 500% longer, and you gain 1 inflation a month and this lasts for 10 years (if you want to go crazy...make it 50 or even 100 years or more!)

Though a way to combat this is at lvl 95 or 96 admin tech you learn "Nukeclear cleanup" witch makes the modifer last only 1 day....but it still kills your men...and at 100 admin tech maybe remove it entirerly....just a thought :)

PS: balance isn't something im good at...so if it seems off balace feel free to change it to make it balance

This would be a cool idea, provided proper balancing though, as thats the one thing in the modern scenarios I can't make up an excuse for as i always figure atrtion in the modern age is from airstrikes/submarines +plus storms/sickness,etc.

But nukes would be a cool decision although it should only affect one province, cost a bit less (hard to make even 1 mil in eu4), reduce foregin relations, and makes you declare war on target, although you would be able to target anywere (perhaps once a more advanced tech is reach to resemble the A-bomb to ICMBS)

yes i do like this idea, and i can understand not effecting a whole country like france.. but wouldn't a nuke effect more? like the province you hit along eith a few around it? Though i guess if it did and hit more then one country (IE OPM) then it would make you declare on the nearby ones as well... idk i dont mod i just like the idea :P

ya same (idont mod [yet] but like the idea). but for province size the only two bombs actually dropped pretty much just effected cities (hiroshima/nagasaki) so maybe surronding provinces could get some sort of radiation debuff as the wind would carry it around, but those provinces wouldnt lose units?

yeah that sounds like it would work, maybe it would incress attrition some as well (maybe like 15%?)
Kaal Jun 15, 2014 @ 6:57pm
Ya and then those radiated cities would have maybe a 10% or 5% chance every year or every 5 years to become unradiated while the target would have a 1%chance every 10 or 25 years, and havve a harsher radiation?

Yeah with incressing chance every tick, much like a siege? I really like this idea so far :)

Nukes are huge, they would have to be really overpowered, like completely removing base tax from some provinces and making them uncolonised (and uncolonisable). Also it couldn't be as neat as one country, it would have to be a certain area completely wiped out. Also, 1M is the maximum you can store, you won't get that without cheating. It would have to be cheaper. The AI would have to be really against using it though.

Nukes are indeed supposed to be overpowered, but I don't think provinces should become uncolonised because of them, at least not when the earlier and weaker nukes were used (Examples: Japan during WW2) Also, it should be possible to shot down any bomber planes and also construct missile defence systems.

that why i thought at admin tech whatever you could counter nukes and they become less effective, then at some other level it would make then ever less/never hurt

One of the biggest problems with nukes is balancing, which can of course be overcome with proper testing. The other problem is providing a user-friendly way to decide where to send the nuke. You can't really have a separate decision for every possible province or country nor can you have an event with different options for all of them.
MadM Jun 16, 2014 @ 1:07pm
maybe you cant chose? it choses a random province in the target, making it a little less effective on bigger countries unless you want to take the chance...idk i dont know how to mod this so idk how you would do it =\
Are you ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ stupid? The first nuke was used in '45...
MadM Jun 16, 2014 @ 6:33pm
sorry it was like 10:30 and i wanted sleep, and i was thinking it was 1964 when it was used...idk why though ;)
Phil Scott Jun 17, 2014 @ 7:31am
Well, it could be one national decision showing with country names on it to nuke.
Kaal Jun 17, 2014 @ 1:59pm
What if for targeting you already need to be at war with the country and then it targets the war leader? Not sure how to target procinces though
