This map is terrifying
After seeing this map collect dust in my list for years, I finally decided to check it out. Initially I was disappointed to see how little locals there are on the map. However, upon realizing all the new item mechanics & reaching the safe zone, I realized this map has an excellent game play loop of gathering materials from all locations. Much better than the base game, where you mostly just go to military bases and occasionally make food runs.

But there was 1 thing that stood out that made this map somewhat dreadful to play. 1 location that always made me focus on what I was doing...the dorms. While looking through the various rooms, I found a non-zombie dressed in robes standing in the corner. Playfully I give him a little punch to what I believe to be an AFK player's attention on a PvE server. It was not a player.

The cultist reveal was the most frightening experience I've had in this game. Never have I jumped in my chair so hard, as when the silent, red-eyed creature turned and stabbed me repeatedly with its knife. After this moment I began to wonder, are these things all over the map? I've seen staves, robes and hoods everywhere. Are they everywhere too?

After a solid week of exploring and loot gathering the cultists began to lose their scary factor. I believed I had conquered this map except for 1 thing. The deadzones. Seeing so many entrances to massive underground areas excited me, especially the prison passage. Finally I amassed the materials to craft a mask & filter, leapt into the deep hole, and approached with caution. What I met was somehow even more unnerving.

The developers of this map have not only made an excellent map; they've created a masterful horror experience in the bunkers. In the darkness are droning sounds of unknown origins. Radio chatter that occasionally seems to glitch out. A thick, green fog that lowers your vision. And lastly, zombies have x5 health, causing even the simple creatures you easily kill to become terrifying tanks. You're far better off avoiding them, causing you to move slower, draining the gas mask's filter and tense your shoulders as you slowly move around the once easily dealt with enemies.

This area is a perfect example of how to make an already unnerving map (especially on full moons) the perfect atmosphere for a horror game. I will be paying close attention to the developers' careers, as I genuinely believe they are capable of creating an excellent horror game.
