What tool to harvest hide?
Hi! I am new to this mod, I was trying to harvest hide using a stone pickaxe or hatchet but I cannot get any hides... or is there any other tool? or something I'm doing wrong? Thank you for your helpful answer. I cannot progress without those hides.

It seems like you need to use the Interact option on the corpse (E on PC) to get your extra harvest options for most non-meat/sinew stuff [hides, pearls, etc].

I believe you need to have a metal hatchet. It also looks like the speed you harvest at is correlated to your crafting skill...which starts out at a painful 10%.

Stone hatchet works as well, it just gets you less hide. And yes the crafting skill is VERY important.

The time is takes to skin a corpse is calculated by the following formula:

For example: A level 1 Allosaurus with a max health of 630 being skinned by a Level 10 survivor with 110% Crafting Skill would be (630/15)×1.1 = 46.2 scaled hide.
By altering the Harvest Common Skin Factor, you can raise the amount of common hide you harvest from a corpse by decreasing the factor, or you can lower the amount of common hide you harvest from a corpse by increasing the factor.

Thank you for the response, I just need to hold "E" to bring up the menu to harvest the hides.

I tried to harvest hide from a 140 Alpha Rex... I was holding E so long that my character grew hungry and passed out before I could harvest it... ended up letting the corpse despawn >< I'll stick to smaller dinos lol
