Taming Info: Armaedron
This section is about how to tame Armaedron, as the mechanic is unique and a bit complex.

FIRST: You MUST be level 105.
You also CANNOT approach armaedron on a mount. Armaedron will take approaching it on a mount as a threat or act of violence, and will retaliate with immediate aggression.

In a nutshell, how you tame Armaedron is by offering it precious metals and minerals until you finally befriend it (tame it) after earning its trust. From least effective to most effective, here are the items you can give Armaedron to tame:

-Metal (least effective)
-Crystal/Obsidian
-Green Gems/Blue Gems
-Red Gems/Silicate
-Black Pearls
-Element Ore (Most effective)

To Initiate the taming process, you must first approach an armaedron and have it threaten you. When this happens, drop your gift (taming item) on the ground and back up a little. You will notice Armaedron becomes curious in what you drop and will proceed to walk towards it.

NOTE: Armaedron takes into account if it has been attacked recently, by either player or wild dinos, before it calms down to its usual temperment. If your armaedron has been attacked, wait for a bit. He is set to calm down about 15 seconds after the last time he took damage or was aggressive, so let your new friend calm down before you approach him again (if he's not neutral towards you already

Here's the important part: you must make sure to keep your distance. Stay within threatening range but do not draw too close, or the armaedron will attack. Keep a good middle distance and do not leave the threatening distance or the Armaedron will glitch during its next step. Once Armaedron accepts the gift, it will re-enter its threatening stance. Once you receive the message that re-starts the the threatening process, let the Armaedron have its personal space, and back off until it stands down.

NOTE:
The amount of the item you drop does NOT effect taming affinity. So stack mod users, dont think you can drop several thousand black pearls in front of an Armaedron and instantly tame it. Giving it 1,000 or so black pearls in a stack will give you the same affinity as giving it a single one.

After waiting a bit, repeat the process. Approach Armaedron, let it threaten you. Drop the gift and maintain your careful distance. Wait for him to accept the gift, threaten again, then back off until he stands down. Keep doing this until you hit 30% affinity.

When you hit 30% taming, the Armaedron will become neutral towards you and you can approach it without threat. You will gain a buff called "Friend of the Red Dragon", which will prevent Armaedron from attacking you when you approach. As long as you do not attack the armaedron, it will not attack back.

NOTE:
Damage from tames, other players, etc, will not reset the taming process or lower affinity.

Stick around your Armaedron and continue to give it gifts. at 80% taming it will become friendly and welcoming of you. Keep it up until you hit 100% and the armaedron is yours!

When you have the "Friend of the Red Dragon" buff, nearby tames and players in the same tribe will gain a buff from you called "Acquaintance of the Red Dragon". This also protects them from being target by Armaedron TO AN EXTENT. As Armaedron is an intelligent species, it will recognize your tribemates and tames as "friends of yours" and will trust them to an extent. However, Armaedron will still attack Acquaintances if they draw too close, so they should still keep a fair distance. You're the one befriending the dragon after all, not them!

Also, don't worry if you need to leave for a bit to get more resources. Armaedron has a "Remembering" mechanic where it will remember its tamer. If you leave its threaten radius for abit (say a few minutes to run back to base and get taming materials), it will once again Threaten you when it detects you, but will recognize you and calm down after a moment.

EMOTIONS:
Armaedron actually changes animation depending on his emotion and taming affinity. At 30% he becomes neutral and ambivalent towards the player. His gift except animations will become have a bit of an attitude of "ehh...fine i'll take it", and his Remembering animation will be a bit of "...oh yeah, i remember you. I guess you're fine."

At 80%, the animations change again. When Armaedron accepts gifts, it will take a moment to acknowledge the player after accepting it. its remembering animation will also change so that not also will it remember you, but it will actually welcome you and your company.

OFFENDED REFUSAL: Armaedron's Cross-Play with Immersive Taming.
As Armaedron is an extremely intelligent (Spoilers here: Sentient and Sapient) creature, it will take offense to being treated like an animal. As such, if offered a bait from immersive taming, Armaedron will enter an immediate rage state, feeling insulted at your gesture, and attack. Once an Armaedron has been offended, that individual becomes permanently immune to immersive taming and can only be tamed via its usual method. Nothing you do: changing IT settings, etc, will work. Armaedron will become offended and immune to IT. HOWEVER, you can indeed IT Armaedron still. So long as the Armaedron has not been offended beforehand, you can IT an Armaedron by saving its life. This is a natural mechanic built-in to IT where you save a close-to-death creature from an attacker (the creature you're trying to tame cant be the one who initiated combat) to start the Immersive Taming process. Once you make an Armaedron grateful to you, DO NOT OFFER IT ANY BAIT. If you do, you will enrage it. Tame it the standard method for a bit: by presenting gifts and respecting its personal space until both IT say it is ok to approach, and the Armaedron stops threatening. Continue to do a mixture of petting and gift-giving until Armaedron can be hand-fed. When that becomes an option, it is safe to feed armaedron baits using hand-feeding only. The default taming mechanic will still work as it is being Immersive Tamed, so you can continue to give your new friend gifts as you care for it and offer it something to eat whenever it wants.

FINAL NOTE:

Waking Tame (passive tame) feeding interval multiplier server settings do NOT effect the Armaedron's interval for accepting gifts, as it is not a hunger-based system. As such, any side mods you have which drain food will not have an effect on speeding up the tame.

Wow, the detail you put into this beautiful beast's taming mechanic and how it synergizes with Immersive Taming is amazing - pretty much how I'd imagine a dragon being befriended/"tamed" and their reaction to being treated like a simple animal. lol

Good job. :thumb:

I am really in love with this taming system, I really like the sense of realism on this, building up trust. I cant wait for more :D

My Armas Taming drops rapidly, no matter what i do... I feed him element Ore, he has 11% - literally 11 seconds later he is on 0% Taming :(

That's due to your server rates.

If you have passive taming feeding intervals increased on your server, it will glitch out armaedron.

Since he does not "eat" when taming, he never refills food.

Since he cannot refill food, as soon as the first item is gifted, the game will rapidly decrease his food so he can be fed again.

However Armaedron is never "fed" and passive taming intervals do not effect his gift timer.

So the game glitches the poor creature out, causing it to rapidly loose affinity and taming progress.

sometime mounts can get stuck so if you riding on a stuck mount it will agro to the stuck creature.
