Problems with zombies.
I've already received some feedback from players on the topic of an overly difficult zombie apocalypse, so I feel it's necessary to make some clarifications on this topic. This scenario is really difficult and requires more effort from the player than other scenarios. Most likely you will lose the first game, this is inevitable, few people can easily and quickly adapt to a new type of battle, look at the zombie spawn locations, their spawn time is randomly up to 4 months, but the first 2 weeks of the game, everyone except Thailand has time to prepare, respawn locations are almost always the same and are based on the first cases of covid at the beginning of 2020. In fact, the game has a lot of great ideas and features that are rarely used by players in practice, due to the fact that the game in singleplayer is quite simple due to automation capabilities, most players usually don't pay attention to the possibility of destroying bridges in front of the enemy or to the available nuclear missiles, which, if manually guided, could make a very significant contribution to both defense and offensive. The zombie apocalypse can be stopped and defeated, but for this you need to be able to retreat when the battle has no prospect of winning, be able to save strength and find the best positions for defense, keep the salary and maintenance of the army at a high level. If you are a beginner, I can recommend playing multiplayer with more experienced players or for such a strong country as the USA and choose for yourself the part of the country that you will defend with all your might for the first 5 months of the game, and then expand your zone of control. Before counter-offensive, analyze the map: find the best terrain to attack, see if you can destroy bridges with tactical nukes to slow down or completely eliminate the possibility of zombies entering your offensive zone, use cities as strongholds before further offensives, create only those units which effectively fight infantry, it's unlikely that an anti-aircraft missile system or an anti-tank one is a good means of fighting a horde of zombies. If the game is still too difficult, then reduce it's difficulty in the settings: make the economy, military difficulty easier, increase the amount of starting resources, disable the starting debt. When you get comfortable with this scenario, the game will open up to you in a new way, your actions will become more thoughtful, which will increase the interest in the gameplay.

How much work would it be to do zombie mod with unit overhaul on a cold war sandbox?

Most of the work has already been done, so I think the cold war will take about a week. Orbats (starting units) would remain vanilla, it's worth considering that the creator of the unit overhaul mod made the main changes for the modern era, so during the Cold War these changes would not have been felt for a long time.

Another question, would it recache if i do small changes to the cvp file (worlavail, refpopulation and maybe a flag and add more techs or unit designs to a country) for a few countries? What is the name of the cvp file?

2020UOZombie.CVP Yes, I think there will be no problems, the main thing is not to put GDP below 200, otherwise the economy will collapse when other countries are captured, apparently due to skyrocketing inflation.

To answer your reply, I know about the hints and strategies. I've played smaller nations first, like Switzerland, DPRK, etc. So that might be why it's unbeatable, but I love it like that.

I didn't make the comment as a criticism, but more as of... my perspective from playing it.

I did for a run of the DPRK where I stockpiled ammo and oil, went complete autarky and tried synthesising my own oil. I built fortifications and got my army prepared with massive artillery support, tho about 2 years in my economy just completely collapsed and I fell soon after.

I might do a run as the UK, see what comes of it.

Would love to see a zombie apocalypse scenario in the Cold War and WW2 era. Maybe even a WW1.

Technologies cannot be tied to only one country, unfortunately, therefore these technologies are researched only in zombie apocalypse, other countries cannot research them, unless you have an extra 2000 years to research. AI from your minister and AI from other countries will not automatically use these technologies in research due to a hidden setting that prevents them from doing so. I usually put technologies I don't need into research and put them on pause so they don't annoy my perfectionism.

Today, by the way, I just finished my game for UK and described this story on the forum. https://www.bgforums.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=94&t=32900

While true, most of the Unit Overhaul Mod focus is on the modern era with a majority of additions seen there, there has been extensive work done on cold war era units too!

Following up on other posts it would be awesome to see this mod in the cold war or ww2 era

Especially the cold war era since there would be 2 opposing blocks: Nato and Warsaw pact utilising different war doctrines fighting the zombies, and maybe fighting each other in the process
