In the colder regions I suppose you could have icebergs and maybe volcanic islands similar to iceland. Maybe with an increased likelihood of steam geysers to simulate hot springs.
It'd work out quite nice if each temperature type had an easier and a more hardcore version to suit all playstyles.
@jupiterLily We're intending to have more island types for sure, and these are some good ideas!
One could argue its the way it is now to prevent overpopulating an island, however at least the egg production time on crabs seem quite long.
This is especially true when a pair of giantacondas come to visit and depopulate the island of almost any wildlife.
I can't seem to fish on any of the islands, yet I have seen a youtuber fish on one of the islands from this mod, so I was wondering what the status on compatibility is.
My suggestion goes as such: Rudimentary stone block cook spaces like ovens with a flat top stone surface(for frying on) which consume wood constantly and produce heat like a fire, but are faster to cook on and a bit more fuel efficient. Less food poisoning, too. As it is, I view the fueled oven like a common wood burning stove made of cast iron, and it struck me as odd that a tribal society would know how to make something like that, but not a rudimentary stone baking oven? Perhaps even have the slabs something that needs to be made individually on a stone cutter as well? I'd imagine it'd need at least 2 or 3 of them.
Second, a rudimentary smelter/smithy combination which goes along the same line of logic as the stone oven. Constantly on, constantly consuming wood, constantly producing heat. Only this consumes material faster than a fire, and CAN'T produce items of a quality greater than normal or good. Up to you on how to balance that on your end. Likewise the heat output should be greatly increased, and it should also require leather in construction. For bellows. Also, it should probably have a chance of randomly combusting if left lit and unattended. Because of the bellows. This might seem worthless, but there be slag, and where there be slag, there be steel. And where there be steel, there be a way to not unalive yourself as technology progresses around you.
Both of these should get debuffs for being outdoors, making their heat management and ensuring pawns don't overheat when using them in a tropical island environment a part of their balance. Likewise, each should consume a large sum of stone block to produce, somewhere around 300-600 for the smelter and 150-200 for the oven, I'd think, and for the smelter, probably be anywhere from a 2x3 to a 4x4 sized workstation. Perhaps the oven could even be a 2x2, just to make it unique?
Finally, sunken boats which yield X sum of Y material depending on the type and size of boat. IE, driftwood, flotsam, steel, and plasteel. Sort of relics of cultures that grew and died on the hostile rim world your pawns have come to inhabit.
I hope the ideas are a welcome addition and would fit well with the mod.
