Aggressive dragons will randomly attack friendlies mid-combat
Like the title says, I have repeated instances of dragons starting to attack my colonists mi-fight, until they kill the pawn in question. I first had the issue when setting the dragons to defensive mode, but later understood that they would retaliate against anyone who would hit them, even by accident. Since then, I have made sure and double checked that every dragon is set to aggressive, but I still encounter this weird behavior.

Okay so I've been experiencing this lately too, the only way I was able to stop it was to set the dragon to passive

I think what's going on, is that when set to aggressive/defensive it says it will retaliate even if the target is just winding up to attack (aiming their gun) and this aggros the dragon if they are even remotely a possible target, ie your pawns, shooting pawns that your dragon is meleeing, but if you set them to passive and then "release animals" them while they're following a drafted pawn, their combat ai will be overwritten by the "release animals" search and destroy-esque mechanics while not triggering the aggressive/defensive on allies issue

this is all speculation mind you
Another possible workaround might be an "Avoid friendly fire" mod

Is exactly what I used as a solution, but is still an impractical solution.
