Prison Labor
"Work and Recruit" doesn't do the "Recruit" part
My prisoners will work when this is set, but my colonists will not try and recruit or talk to them at all to reduce resistance at all when set like this. I'm not sure why it's happening.

Maybe your warden job has low priority?

I have the same problem. Can't even manually tell a colonist to attempt a recruit while this mode is set. Something is not working correctly. The other modes work fine it seems, so it's just more micro, not actually game-breaking. Can still "Force to work" and "Recruit" separately.

It should still does it. Try to force your colonists to "watch them", that will ( at least on my game) let them run there, but instead of watching them, they gonne, as long as the cooldown is finished, recruit them

Important note; I want to disable the encouragement mechanics. When they're turned off, this doesn't work.

Sadly I dont know about that, always left the mechanic on since it gives you a big mood boost at the end for the prisoners. Maiby something with the labor zone is broken since (in vanilla at least), "talking to prisoners" does count as jailor, not as warden job, and all jobs other then warden are forbidden in prison labor only zones

Mine is the opposite. "Work and Recruit" was doing the recruiting attempts, but no working.
Wish Granter Mar 7, 2020 @ 10:26am
yeah cause the guy was only to come to talk to them, not watching them, no one was, so they stop working sometime

I thought this was the case too, but I both forced people to watch them and disabled the need to have them watched in the mod options, none worked.
edit: my workaround was to set them to "Work" only and manually switch to "Recruit" whenever my Warden was free. That did the trick.

yes its more micromenagment, but to be honest , if you want him in your colony anyway, just set him to reduce willpower only and if it is 0, you can set him to work and instantly recruit him as soon as you have a bed, or in the middle of a raid. Always have some 0 willpower prisoners in the backhand I can instantly recruit (they only have like 10% difficukty) to have them as emergency during raids, cannon fodder.

Wow. That was it. I've been trying to figure this out for months.

Still, though, "just don't use Work and Recruit" isn't a fix. Work and Recruit should work as intended regardless of whether or not motivation mechanics are enabled.

Amen. This needs a fix.

In my game, it works just fine, they recruit andwarden to work at the same time.

Tumbler, even when the encouragement mechanics are disabled?

Okay, nevermind. The "Work and Recruit" setting not doing the Recruit part is still happening. I thought I found a workaround by enabling the motivation mechanics. That did work for a little while, but it stopped working again. I disabled motivation mechanics again, tested it, and it did not work. Then I re-enabled motivation mechanics, tested it, and it did not work.

Okay, after lots of testing I finally realized what's going on. The warden job will recruit only prisoners set to "Recruit" and the jailor job will recruit only prisoners set to "Work and Recruit". If a prisoner is set to "Work and Recruit" then the only colonists that will do the recruiting part are colonists that have been set to do the jailor job, and if a prisoner is set to "Recruit" then the only colonists that will recruit them are the ones that have been set to do the warden job. I don't know why this is set this way, nor why there is even a difference, but whatever. I hope this helps other people with this issue. I know I've been scratching my head for months trying to figure out why "Recruit and Work" isn't working.
