About the upcoming "Etruscan City states - Update"
Well, i cant wait until your "Etruscan City States - Update" comes out.
I hope, this huge starting fleet will then begone XD
Any release date?

Btw, a formable "Etruria"?
They called themself "Rasenna", better use this term instead of the term with roman background. Etruscans, Tuscii, Tuscia, they are all romanized, better use "Rasenna".
And yes, of course, i know that we have no clue how they called their homeland. But i think that at that time they didn't think beyond their corresponding city-state.
So its up to us to name it.

And i have a question. Will we be able to play as Veii? I know, they are gone at the start of the game, but still, that would be awesome ^^
Faction color: Gold. They where insolently rich after all ^^
Pls :D

And what about Rome? Atm, my focus lies on them, to beat them at the start of the game before they become too big, i guess as a small City state this wont be possible. How are we supposed to beat them? What are you planning to weaken them?

One solution would be:
Rewind time for Italy. Back to the moment, where Rome was a City State aswell.
Then, Veii, should be possible aswell ^^
The rest of the world has to stay the same, it would be a huge bunch of work otherwise. So much work, that it could be sold as DLC indeed XD
*winkwink@PDX* Age of Alexander *coughcough* INSTANDBUY! XD

Btw, sry for opening a extra discussion, but well, the character limit, comment was impossible this way ^^

I think I'm about done. It's a seperate mod that will include all features of this one (unless I can find a way to make the two compatible). So it will pretty much just be the same as this mod, just with almost every city being its own country. You can check out the map here, if you're curious[forum.paradoxplaza.com]. This was a more extensive mod I was working on for the old version; I'll just use the map. No release date, though. I hate deadlines ;p

Do you mind the large fleet? It wasn't my intention, it probably has to do with the added ports, but I figured the Etruscans were supposed to be a naval power anyway, so I don't really mind.

I'll stick to "Etruria" as the game uses the names in English. Rome isn't called "Roma" either, for example, or Carthage "Qart Hadasht". Honestly, this is why I hate the name of the Etruscan "formable", "Tuscia". It makes no sense to me. Why would a larger Etruria give itself a Latin name? I would understand if the formable used the name "Rasna"; though I'd still prefer the English name for consistency. I modded this out for myself (so it just stays "Etruria").

Veii will stay part of Rome, as it was historically. I may make it possible to release Veina (I think the Etruscan name was) by decision or through an event; but we'll see.

I don't plan to change anything outside of Etruria. Ideally, one would make a game centered entirely around the Etruscan city states: the coastal cities sailing the Mediterranean and the landlocked ones colonising the north, with lots of attention to religious life and the (supposed) meetings at the Fanu adding a higher level of politics. Sadly, I doubt anyone will make this dream come true...

Not at all, thanks for sharing your thoughts :)

That's very interesting, thanks for these insights ^^

So no playable Veii/Veina for us, what a pity.
But hey, its your mod ^^
Perhaps later, when PDX decides to release more DLC for the game, which they surely will because they will never stop "delivering" more stuff to us, even with different launch dates, despite being said not to do. ^^
But hey, to free them sounds good to, pls do it ^^

But dont forget Rome/Ruma, it was a etruscan city originally until Lucius Tarquinius Superbus son Sextus did ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ with the nobility.
And of course Capua/Capeva in the south, it had been founded by the etruscans, until the samnites came to conquer it. And after them the romans or rumach in etruscan language.
Just like Spina in the north.
This should be somehow reflected in the game, maybe via one of those quests that you "hate" that much XD
Something like "Porsenna`s legacy" or "Recolonizing the north/south" :D

And one more question, how to form "Etruria"?
Do we need to conquer all the other etruscan city states? Or would it be enough to be allied with everyone what i would prefer.
Maybe through a mission/quest to ally with every sigle etruscan nation and the reward is a united etruscan nation but with preserved, autonomous city-states as Feudatory under our rule. That would be awesome :D

And still, "Etruria", gods, i hate this latinized word.
What about:
"Cel mechl Rasnal" - Motherland of the Etruscans?
And yes, i know, Cel is not only the word for land, it was a mother goddess of the etruscans too, but hey, we cant ask anyone anymore, for that, we are several millennia too late XD
But in the end, its completely up to you ^^

I'm still looking forward to it ^^
Btw, if you find translation errors, you can keep them, its hard enough to write in 2 languages, one of them dead and the other one is foreign for me XD
Greetings from germany ^^

I do hate quests ;p
And besides, you can yourself decide to conquer Rome or drive away the Celts from the Po Valley, you don't need quests to tell you to do so. Though that will of course be harder to do as a single city-state.

My idea was that you need a certain amount of Etruscan cities to be able to found Etruria. I did also want to have a peaceful alternative, but I'm not sure how I'd do that.

I prefer consistency, to be honest. I also don't really mind the term "Etruscans" or "Etruria", I think it sounds nice. Though, of course, wherever I can I will include authentic Etruscan terms, as I have done with the names of cities, characters and offices.

I plan to add modifiers to specific cities, for example. I've already written up this modifier for Tarchna:

"The Etruscan Discipline
It was in these fields that the child-sage Pava Tarchies was dug up by a farmer, and revealed to all Etruscan tribes the art of reading the language of the gods in nature. His teachings were forever recorded by Tarchuns and to this day form the heart of Etruscan religion."

I'm not a native speaker of English either, no worries :)
