On a similar minor note if this is okay to post on this request list. I'm not 100% certain, but when I was playing with the Vanilla clothes as well, I think the Scarf from that mod did something similar to this. If I'm remembering correctly!
So anyway! Just wondering if this could be changed or not. No problem either way! Just a request after all. And awesome work!
I don’t quite think I can fix any issues with layers as the code in vanilla is pretty limited, but I will look into this.
I'm a massive medieval armor buff in real life so i think i can help.
1) The Chainmail ( Or in medieval times, just called "Mail") says it's "Being quite heavy" and it lowers movement speed by -12% ??? Mail is actually very, very light and is riveted together, not linked.
Please removed the movement penalty from chainmail. A modern day bulletproof vest weights more than ancient chainmail and a bulletproof vest would never slow your moment down.
NOTE: Chainmail would absolutely NOT protect you from Blunt damage
2) Both of your Plate armors ( Light Plate / Chestplate) AND the normal in-game plate-armor harshly lower the movement speed. I never understood this because real life FULL plate armor hardly limits your movement at all.
Would you please lower the insane moment penalty from these, if not just remove them all together?
3) Your plate helm is an open face helmet, not one that has a visor protecting the wearers face, so i would remove the accuracy penalty from it. If you add a full-helm later i would indeed add a accuracy penalty to it, albeit a small one.
4) Gambeson armor (Yes, they called it armor, as well as a jacket) is vary good armor for being made of many layers of spun flax. A gambeson isn't made from leather, it's made from cloth and cloth alone. Flax actually, but because we only have cotton, cotton will do haha. Oh, and a gambeson would keep you VARY warm as well as protect you from blunt damage, being highly padded and all. 25% Sharp 20% blunt defense is more real.
NOTE: Leather armor wasn't a real thing like many, many games would have you believe.
5) Quilted vest isn't armor, it's just fancy clothes. I would either remove this from the mod or remove it's armor stats.
6) Wooden armor is absolutely garbage at defending you from bullets. Even small caliber like 380 ACP and 9MM would punch right through it like paper. It would however defend you from blunt okay-ish. 20% Sharp and 35% Blunt seems more real.
Wood is also very heavy, so maybe a -10% movement penalty
7) Your Light Marine armor is absolutely perfect. It's just a lighter, cheaper Marine armor.
8) Heavy Marine armor say "Neuro-memetic assistors allow a human to wear the armor and still move easily"
Why does this armor halve the speed of my pawn if it says it "helps them move" ??
I would remove this line because it doesn't make sense at all or i would add a movement BOOST to the armor instead. Like a 5-10% movement buff.
If you've read this far; thank you.
- - - - Quick Sum - - - -
1) Remove Chainmail speed penalty & give it only "sharp" protection.
2) Remove or lower speed penalty for Plate armors.
3) Remove accuracy penalty from Plate Helmet
4) Give Gambeson a massive cold insulation boost. Remove it from all things leather.
5) Quilted vest isn't armor
6) Wooden armor wouldn't save you from bullets. It's also kinda heavy.
7) Perfection.
8) Heavy Marine Needs a script change or total removal of speed penalty
Tribal
Wooden Greaves(Leg Armor) - just wooden armor for your legs
Wooden Helm(Head Armor) - Wood armor for your head, based on Tlingit Armor
Stone Armor(Chest Armor) - Ridiculously heavy, scaled in look(based on the stone armor of the first Qin Emperor), Slows pawn down a ton, effective against sharp, but largely useless against blunt.
Wood Shoulder Armor(Shoulder Armor) Wood Armor for the shoulders
Medieval
Padded Leggings(Light Medieval Armor, Legs) -
Chainmail Hosen(Medieval Chainmail Leg Armor) -
Plated Leggings(Medieval Plates Leg Armor) -
Padded Coif(Light Medieval Head Armor) - Should be able to be worn under helmets
Mail Coif(Medieval Head Chainmail) - Should be worn under helmets
Conical Helm(Medieval Head Armor) - Less protective than the plate helm, based on Norman Casque, only provides moderate protection to the head.
Visored Plate Helm(Medieval Head Armor) - Basically just the Plate Helm but with greater protection
Brigandine(Medieval Chest Armor) - Cheaper than Plate, requires a textile and some steel or other metal, heavier than plate and offers less protection.
Just some ideas off of the top of my head for armors.
I'll probably make some posts on the other vanilla items expanded things and will probably add more ideas to these threads. I love these mods so far and there's some stuff I'd like to see expanded.
PS. Thanks for the work. Very nice mod to compliment the feel of vanilla.
You can put armor on the stuff... i'm just giving ideas to make engi lives less of a 'living hell'... by my view
<======>
Engineers suit
-1.5x carrying capacity
-decrease movement speed
-can get a little hot
<======>
Engineers exo-suit
-x2 engi's suit carrying capacity
-increased movement (maybe ~10%)
-can get pretty hot
<======>
'Welding' googles
-increase in construction/crafting time
-maybe increase accuracy
<======>
'Welding' mask
-better than 'welding' googles
-decrease in accuracy
<======>
ENGI BATTLE SUIT!!!
-increased armor (2x exo-suit)
-increased carrying capacity (can run with 3 rocket launchers plus usual)
-shield (60) very slow recharge
-WILL GET VERY HOT!!!!
-UNABLE TO USE RANGED
-blunt is its weakness!!
-indust -> spacer tech (if spacer, won't get too hot)
<======>
Please tell me if my ideas are any good!
I will also help think of balances to these if asked!
Sounds good, will consider in the future.
Will we be getting any leg armors to match with the armor sets added?
This is basically a bulletin board for us, where we can choose improvements and additions from. Ideas are *always* welcome. Lets see what the future brings up :-)
As it currently stands since all powered armors unlock together there isn't really a point to use the light marine armor since it has a bigger movement penalty than vanilla marine armor at less armor
Except the light marine armor I believe allows you to wear extra equipment on the middle layer as it’s the only power armor that only uses the shell layer and nothing else.
I will look into rebalancing tho, rest assured it will be perfectly balanced
Still should be kept in your vanilla drawing style since yes there are nice versions on the workshop but they are to over the top in my opinion, also they are a bit to op. :P
