What does a pokemon being face down mean?
Deikkan  [developer] Sep 29, 2019 @ 1:20pm
Flipping a Pokémon face down means to turn it over so the back is visible. A face down Pokémon cannot be used in a Pokémon Battle. Flipping it face up would be to turn a face down Pokémon over so that the Pokémon would be visible. Hope this helps!

When Gym Leaders/Elite Four/Champion use Solar Beam (Gary), how does this work? Can it just not attack next turn?
Deikkan  [developer] Oct 28, 2019 @ 1:19pm
The Recharge (lightning bolt) ability will be changed next update to "Once used, this move cannot be used again until your next turn". This should hopefully make it so that it also affects gym leaders, trainers and wild Pokémon rather than just your Pokémon.

Like to apologize beforehand as i'm new to board games and need things spelled out for me, but how does evolving work? Me and my friends aren't sure what you mean by reducing the level dice. Using tentacool as an example his base level is two, and if he knocks out a pokemon giving him a level up dice of one, therefore my tentacool is now at level three. Okay to evolve him it has a cost of two so I have to reduce his level dice by two? I'm not sure what that means.
Deikkan  [developer] Oct 30, 2019 @ 12:43pm
An evolve cost of 2 means thats how much you subtract from your level dice to evolve it (if you have 3 on your level dice, reduce it to 1 to evolve). It also means that you must have at least a 2 on your dice before you can evolve it (your dice cannot be negative). It's there so that your Pokémon remains at the same level when you evolve, since an evolved pokémon has a higher base level.

Okay, thanks that makes sense. I think what threw us off was in the rules it says " Every time a pokemon levels up it has a chance to evolve" making us debate if there was another dice roll involved in deciding if the pokemon evolves every time that it gains a level.

You can fight team rocket in Saffron City to get a master ball, but there's no mention of any limitations on it, can we just farm masterballs there?
Deikkan  [developer] Jan 4, 2020 @ 6:20am
You can only get the master ball once. I've added it to the rulebook so it should make it in with the next update.

1. When Pokemon are caught do they join your team fainted if they are caught after a battle victory?
2. When a player fails to catch a Pokemon does it remain on the board?
3. If a legendary Pokemon is defeated and there are no Pokemon to replace it in the slot does the space remain empty?
4. If a player forfeits a trainer battle do all of their Pokemon faint? In other words does forfeiting result in the "player defeated" scenario?
Thanks :)
Deikkan  [developer] Jan 5, 2020 @ 1:21pm
Good questions.

1. Pokémon don't faint if they are caught, only when they are defeated for experience (in which case they go back to the Pokéball). If a Pokémon is failed to be caught after a battle, they remain on the space...

2. The Pokémon remains face up on the board. Another trainer can choose to catch that Pokémon or replace it with another random Pokémon (this will be added to the rulebook for clarification).

3. Yes. Under catch 'em in the rulebook:
"If there are no more of that colour left, then the space remains empty"

4. Forfeiting does not cause any more Pokémon to faint, so they will not have to discard half their cards if they still have Pokémon that have not fainted yet (they still lose the battle, of course).

Thank you :)

Are players able to use catch items such as Ultra Ball on safari zone Pokemon once the item discard cost has been paid?
Deikkan  [developer] Jan 6, 2020 @ 1:07pm
Catch cards cannot be used in the safari zone (since a catch roll is not made to catch then, rather it is another effect). I'll take a look at the wording and see if I can make it a bit clearer.
