If a user have a glowing name, check the hero pool if your hero is grayed out he have been banned.
In solo queue, this means that if your (random) partner has the same priority, it's random who gets front and rear lane. It can be advantageous to pick the least common choice here. If say 7 enemies picked front lane and you pick rear lane you will almost always get your preferred lane, while those 7 will get a random lane almost every round.
Duo queue works a little different. When the first player chooses lane, the other player is auto-assigned to the other one.
Keep in mind that if the damage wouldn't have killed you, the protection is still intact. This means that if you are at 10% and lose 9%, you are at 1% with protection still intact. If you instead lost 10% then you would be at 1% with no protection.
You can see if a player has protection in the scoreboard, with the little brown shield symbol.
