Hearts of Iron IV

The New Order - Old World Blues (LEGACY VERSION)
Impressions
So i wanted to star this discussion for people to tell their general opinion of this mod.

As for me:
1) Mod is really interesting with good lore installed in it, good story - always something that gets alt-history fans to play.

2) UK is strange, really. I get that Germans would have probably invaded UK in order to win ww2, but in reality getting USSR to surrender - everything Germany had to do in order to win the war. SO even if UK is invaded, after the peace treaty Germany would have probably left UK.

-- > I think it's better to give UK independence, but let the isles burn in civil war between royalists\democratic elements\fascists. And perhaps in the end - UK will be split, but not under German Control. This will probably be better for roleplaying.

3) I get that Italy is kinda atlantropian, but it is not that reliable as by drying the sea you will get a hellish amounts of salt. I recommend to restore Italian Original landscape.

4) What you did to France and Belgium is...strange. Brittany - ok. But..Germans would have given french fascist to rule entire land of France under strict control from Berlin. Creating this "Burgundy" is really unwise. Same with Belgium -- better to split their lands between Netherlands and France. rather then to annex the whole nation.

5) Kaucasia is not accurate. Katerinastadt (in our world - Krasnodarskij krai of Russia) is actually populated with Ukrainians. Better to give this lands to ReichCom-Ukraine.

6) Levant and IRAQ were to be independent in case of German Victory, as they would have forced Italy to let the region be. German would have given resources to middle east in order to stabilize it. (CAUSE OIL)

7) Duh. How the hell did Afghanistan just annexed whole Pakistan? Not good.

8) Japanese Sphere is pretty accurate (same with pact of the USA)

9) I get idea about Russia being split in so many states..but germany would have occupied all the lands up to URAL MOUNTAINS and soviets would have escaped into Siberia, to fight another day + japan would have occupied some russian far-east states.

10) South America is just boring xd

11) Iberian Unions is..strange state.

12) Remove Atlantropa..stuff please. It is stupid.

13) can't wait to see more interesting tech. (i may give suggestions)

Now about UI.
It's really bad now. Colors are strange. I know - you want to make is modernistic and kinda like wolfenstein but..it is not really good - perhaps later versions gonna be better.

Font size - make bigger please.

Ideas about managing nations - jesus this is soooo good, expand it and improve it and you will get mod that will beat both Kaiserreich and Fuhrerreich.

Add some original ideologies (Like Valkists in Fuhrereich.) - some right-wing libertarian ideologies and right-wing collectivist ideologies, or even some♥♥♥♥♥♥like neo-bolshevism in 1984.

This are suggestions only, i totally understand that it is your original mod and you can have your own way with everything. Keep doing good job, it is always so nice to see something new ^^

Just like read the lore, everything in this mod happened for a reason
Ratman May 4, 2019 @ 9:51am
Read the lore on the tvtropes or read the TNO dev diarys, 4) is due to Himmler being a sperg and so Hitler gave him Burgundy to be his own fiefdom. 9) Stalin never came to power, and instead Bukharin failed at everything and when the germans reached Moscow a whole civil war broke out that dissolved into petty warlords. 10) thats true in IRL and in this mod. 12) Alantropa is one of the catalysts for the collapse of the german economy and the whole situatuon it is in. and last of all; the original ideologies. bruh look at the Burgundian system.

Even if we were willing to change things, which we aren't because they all have large justifications in the story, you'd be asking us to rework literal years of work.

Not a dev, but I've read the diaries and am on the subreddit a lot.

2): TNO runs with the premise that the Nazis got natural 20s on basically everything until some point in the 50s. They could invade the UK, so they did, and they made it a semi-puppet. Free England can win and kick out the fascists. The collaborators aren't actually all Nazis or fascists, some just don't want to be bombed/nuked into the Stone Age.

3): This is exactly what happened, that state is probably entirely useless salt flats. Atlantropa is a stupid idea, but the Nazis tried it because they had plans for it and in this universe had the ability to do it. Notably, the Mediterranean countries (especially Spain, who has to keep the damn dam from falling) are not very impressed.

4): When one of the powerful Russian warlords invaded Germany in the 50s after a big economic crisis, Germany very nearly had a civil war between the Wehrmacht and the SS while still fighting the Russians. Himmler was given Burgundy to placate him and the SS was split between Burgundy and Germany. France was not consulted on this. Before that war, I assume France controlled most of the area and Germany occupied the rest.

5): Do you really think that of all people, the Nazis would really care about something like whether a city is Ukrainian, Russian, or something else? It's the Nazis - everybody in the RKs is basically a slave, who cares if your slaves in this one bit speak something a bit odd. I'm not convinced Hitler didn't just randomly draw lines on a map.

6): Pretty sure Mussolini wouldn't have relinquished those areas if he already had them. He could just re-annex them when Germany half-collapsed in the 50s anyway. Germany also has the Caucauses for oil now, making it less urgent, and I'm sure they were expecting Italy to stay friendly and ship oil. Iraq actually is independent-ish anyway, enough so to have their own power struggles and native leaders.

7): ...I will admit I'm not quite sure what happened here. It's not all of Pakistan (Pakistani independence is a thing) - those areas might be majority Pashtun or something? Do keep in mind that India got hit badly by Japan, hence the Bengal government.

9): Japan occupied Vladivostok but probably looked at all the snow further north and gave up. The Soviets got shattered due to being weaker, but there's still a bunch of various Communist leftovers (the WRRF is USSR 2.0, Lysenko and the NKVD are ostensibly communist given their use of ASSR for everything, I think Vorkuta is the Northern Fleet, there's a splinter group stuck in Tuva of NKVD men I think, and a few others I don't know of.) The Germans tried to go to the Urals and reportedly maintain that RK Moskowien does in fact extend there, but ultimately it was just too far to go. The border did use to be the AA line, though.

10): South America is always boring in HOI4 (unless Kaiserreich). Currently it has no developers, I think.

11): Iberia falls apart. Really, really badly. Imagine the Yugoslav Wars, but like twice as large and you also have four iterations of Serbia all fighting each other for different ideologies. It's confirmed there are more than four Portugals, and basically everywhere else can end up going independent or some random ideology. You can keep the Union stable by reforming it to a proper democracy thingy, I think.

12): No.

14): You obviously didn't actually look at the ideology wheel before complaining there isn't any new ideology here. The Burgundian System is basically Nazism but turned up to 11 - "more gas chambers than houses" is the state motto, everything is under state control, and it is kinda hard to describe how bad it is. Burgundy and the Caucauses start as BurgSys. There's also Ultranationalism (although that might have analogues IRL), which is for any extremely nationalist leader that isn't BurgSys and represents things like sending out your entire population armed with shovels to kill the Germans.

It's more of an impression, i totally get that this is your product and i am just a nobody. Mod is still great (even in demo version).

10) thats true in IRL and in this mod.

I can attest that this is wholly untrue. IRL there is a lot that has gone on in South America that the entirety of Europe and North America just ignored due to their own agendas elsewhere in the world. South America is host to a competing authoritarian regimes of varying stability, and it's not at all outside the realm of possibility to implement interesting content on it. That said, the devs have in mind what they have in mind. Let's allow them to produce their vision, not dictate what it should be.

All my thoughts can be boiled down to one thing: Panzer should've just written a novel. That way (a) he would've made some money off of this, (b) people would be less confused and frustrated by his apparent inability to do research on the inner workings of the evil hellhole that is the heart of his setting, and (c) he wouldn't be wasting massive amounts of time giving pretentious put-downs to others and copypasting ♥♥♥♥♥♥ 4chan memes (which, if you don't want 13 year old neonazi edgelords to be playing your mod, why use memes, which are the primary communication method of 13 year old neonazi edgelords, to advertise the mod?).

As a concept, this mod is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ brilliant. In practice, the demo at least has several major problems of execution and showcases a nihilistic and hateful view of humanity that really leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

This should've been a book. Sell it to Baen, write 2-3 sequels, make a few grand, take a vacation.
yeah but we wouldn't get a great mod from that
