Hi. Was just playing blitz solo (tho that probably isn't important). Had just beaten a dungeon, went to click on the shield with the player mini on top of the dungeon hex, and the mini shot off to the left and disappeared (at least, I couldn't find it). Following this, I got several "null value" errors on trying to apply pretty much anything, which I'm guessing means the player somehow disappeared. Any idea what may have hapenned or if I could recover from this, as it killed the scenario for me?
Thanks.
Fantastic mod, nevertheless!
First of all, thank you so much for your great work on the Mage Knight mod! It's really well done and brings one of my favorite games to the virtual table in an impressive way. I truly appreciate the time and effort you’ve put into it.
I’ve been playing the German version of the mod and wanted to report a few issues I noticed, in case they’re helpful for future improvements:
1) Advanced Action Cards mix-up
In the German version, two cards in the Advanced Action deck are incorrectly replaced with Basic Action cards:
--> Instead of "Path Finding", the card "March" is included.
--> Instead of "Mana Storm", the card "Mana Draw" is included.
2) Ability Explanation Card
The Ability Reference Card always displays the explanation for the competitive ability, even when playing a cooperative game. It doesn’t adapt to the game mode.
3) Tooltip Terminology from Ability
In the tooltips, the terms “Zug (turn)” and “Runde (round)” are not always used correctly.
4) Hero Icons on Basic Action Cards
The hero icon in the top right corner of the Basic Action cards doesn’t always match the correct hero. However, I believe the starting decks themselves are content-wise correct (though I haven’t verified every single one in detail).
5) Card Resolution
The card resolution in the German version is noticeably lower compared to the English version. While all cards are still readable and usable, a sharper image would improve the experience.
Again, thank you for this fantastic implementation. Despite the small issues, it’s a great way to enjoy Mage Knight digitally, and I’m happy to see such a detailed adaptation in Tabletop Simulator.
Best regards
Dennis
1, 5) Yep, on inspection, those two cards are wrong on the card sheet I was provided. For me to add a translation to my mod I first need a scan of all the cards in that language. Not owning any other language than English, these scans were done by other users. The quality turned out to be a bit mixed between languages. For some reason, my German translator stopped work half way through translating the mod's text, so it's one of the roughest translations. Fixing the advanced action cards mean blanking out the text in my English ones and replacing with a poor google translate, or I can just replace the wrong German cards with correct English cards, or maybe you (or any one reading) provides me with a better scan of their cards.
2, 4) Do sound like problems, I'll look into it.
3) Sounds like I need to scan through my translations again and make sure the terminology matches. I have another discussion about translations which has a link to my online translation spread sheet. Maybe if you have some free time you can request permission to edit it and fix some of the mistakes you find as you play. I'll go into more details if you're keen.
Thanks a lot for your detailed reply!
Regarding point 3:
I'm happy to help – German is my native language, and I'd be willing to go through all the tooltips and UI text to provide proper, natural translations.
Regarding points 1 and 5:
Personally, I don’t own a physical copy of the board game. I used to play the base game with a friend who owned it.
Maybe it would be a good idea to create a separate discussion thread to ask the community for scans of the current German card deck?
As a temporary fix for the two wrong advanced action cards, I’d suggest simply using the English cards instead.
And if you’d like to add German text to them, you don’t need to rely on a poor Google translation – I’d be happy to translate those cards for you properly.
I’m not at my PC right now, but I can send you the correct translations for the two cards tomorrow.
Also, I had another idea – though I’m not sure how practical it is:
You could use the English cards and add a German tooltip to each one.
If you give me some time, I could write up the German text for each card and send it to you in a text file or another format that works for you.
I’m not sure how easy that is to implement on your side, but I thought I’d mention it.
I’m happy to support you with the German translation and won’t leave you hanging.
Best regards,
Dennis
I sent you a friend request to make discussion easier.
Here's the Translation Spread sheet so you can see what you are getting in to:-

Lots of tabs at the bottom cover different areas, translate as much or little as you want. If you change the background color of a cell I'll update it in the mod. I'll go into more details after you're happy and requested permission to edit it.
The no coop description card is because it wasn't scanned. He has two competitive cards next to each other instead. It only affects a few of the Mage knights though. I'll need to replace them with the English version for now and hope a "better scan" tool tip gets a response.
Time to dust off my Photo shop Skills ;-)
