Spider Nests 2 (Monster Mod)
Overall Review of The Mod
I already left a summarized review of what i think of this mod in the comments, but i decided to leave an more in-depth review here as well.

1. The Dungeons: Cool Idea, But Overtly Long and Confusing

As much as i understand the desire to make dungeons unique, this is not done by making every mission long, nor by creating confusing layouts on every mission, specially for missions where there isnt a boss to begin with.

While i do see what this mod goes for, the layout of these missions did not need to be this fragmented and hard to read, specially if you compare it to other methods seen in the DD modding community, and even with Pet Cemetery itself!
( This is not an compliment to Pet Cemetery. That mod also suffers from too big dungeons.)

Secondly, these missions do **not** have the necessity to exist, nor to be this long. While i do appreciate the idea of more town events, this mod does not have the extra amount of enemies, trinkets or curious, to justify this big of a map for it's iteration. It's something that i must emphasize that does not help with making the mod more enjoyable at all, and if anything, specially on that earlier weeks, it's a slog to face, and not very fun to enjoy too.

This is for me, one of the two most troublesome aspects of this mod, which strongly merits a Lite version of it without the map missions, or at least, a far more reduced version of them.

2. The Enemy Death Animations: Surprising the First Time, Extremely Unfun After

Now, i will *not* comment on balance here. I'm not an expert on this, nor do i like things too balanced. But i will say this: forcing an animation to be replayed, EVERY TIME, for not only an enemy that can appear often but also be SUMMONED, is ***NOT*** a good idea. This is the second most important thing of this mod that NEEDS a review.

To those not aware and ***SPOILERS*** There is an enemy which is called Glass Spider and that once it's killed, it almost basically PAUSES the entire combat, which becomes repetitive over time and not enjoyable at all since you can also *summon* these.

This basically means that this enemy's combat mechanic repeats itself, causes a very long pause, and it is one that ***will*** be seen over and over again, and which very strongly slows down the game.

Honestly? This should just not be a thing. It interacts with a multitude of trinkets related to enemy deaths and just causes an even bigger slowdown in later weeks when you have many of these, an they will cause horrible delays overtime lasting from 2 to even 3s (without any animation speed mods).

A very fair feedback i can give is to alter the way this mechanic is used. Either it should be an action, or quest passive like we see with KCC's. It's current iteration is not healthy for this mod, or at least, not for a creature that can be seen so many times as this one can.

3. The Items, Quirks, Diseases and Trinkets: Surprisingly not as interesting.

Now, this is something i'd never expect to say about the same person who made the Zenith Class and the Pet Store mod, but this mod really indeed is hit or miss with some of these trinkets and quirks.
(Though these other mods did come later, and with much more improved ideas)

For the trinkets, it really is hit or miss, and i dont say this just because of the summoning ones, but because some of these rely on too low value percentages to even be worth equipping in the first place. (Specially if you're thinking about someone wanting a closer to vanilla experience with only 2 item slots).

As for the Quirks that cause you to do better against a faction of enemies: They are not fun. It's a boring aspect of DD's vanilla mechanics, and one i'm not entirely happy with here either.

The best feedback i can give relating to this part of the mod, is to take a closer look at what made some of the pets items in the Pet Store mod be so interesting, and what made some of Zenith's Quirks so cool as well. Those are two mods with very strong ideas regarding this, and i'm sure that were influenced by how Spider Nests 2 came out to be. But now, the refined ideas there, need to come back here as well.

I do hope this is seen as me actually being a fan of this modding team and previous works of dem22, rather than just being harsh.

Overall Recommendation: Masochists only.

It's a very good mod, with very unique mechanics, but that desperately needs a Lite version without the maps, as well as some changes to how certain enemies work in regards to their animations and how they slow down the combat experience.

Because of this, i cannot overall recommend this mod for everyone.
