BOSS TIPS: [SPOILERS]

VENGEFUL SPIRIT

bring a heavy riposte-party-comp so you can take advantage of the 3 actions per turn of the vengeful spirit. bring a healer, vestal works fine.
bringing a stress healer (solely for the purpose of stress healing) is not advised because you will lack damage to take the boss down. he has a high dodge rating and a huge health pool.
other tactic is to bring a party-comp in which every hero is able to attack from all positions (be aware that the vengeful spirit will hinder you from moving your party members at all times). due to the shuffle of your party in every turn and the hindered movement you should build a party-comp which is able to attack from EVERY position in one way or another.

Path to the boss: The map is a small spiral with some paths to all directions on the outside. the general direction you should be heading is west and a little bit to the south. that way you can reach the boss faster and your party isn't as fatigued once you get there.

UMIBOZU

bring a heavy riposte-comp with a vestal (or a class with an heal for your entire party)
the boss will use "just a touch" to bring even the tankiest heroes of your party to death's door with one hit. don't worry though: he will use this move almost never repeatedly on the same hero. in my experience he focused positions 1 - 2 - 3 with his just a touch. once he used "just a touch" a few times he will start to use heavy stress moves (you shouldn't bring a stress healer necessarily though, I managed the fight without one).
The clue is: your heroes can only damage the boss as long as they remain at death's door, with that in mind you could bring either trinkets that increase your overall damage or trinkets that increase deathblow-resistance. bringing a flagellant (he has highest deathblow-resistance) is not advised since umibozu has 240% resistance against everything so you'll lack damage to take him down with a flagellant since you won't bleed him and lots of flagellant's damage potential is mitigated.
back to general strategy: I brought a team of: 4 - vestal, 3 - dragonslayer, 2 - black swordsman, 1 - thrall.
black swordsman and thrall used their dmg-buffs and went straight to riposte for the rest of the fight. dragonslayer did nothing but guarding the vestal and vestal healed the party so there would be no chance for anyone to die.
the just a touch move brings someone to death's door -> hero hits back -> vestal brings hero off of death's door -> rinse & repeat.

Decent guide; unfortunately, Last Boss targeted my vestal, then went in for the kill his first try. One top of that, this was during the first round.
...
I feel slightly cheated by the boss.
If I may suggest an addendum, I recommend TWO ways to heal people off death's door, to avoid that potential issue happening.Maybe two Vestals?
Assuming you don't have/use a guarder, of course.
