The mod clearly states it's WIP and people have been playing Unfallen fine (although they're a bit underpowered) so the faction isn't "completely broken".
Confusing that you're experiencing my post as aggressive. I'm clearly just frustrated with how poorly tested some factions are, and not attacking anyone. Do a simple calculation on time spent entwining and building colony ships, and you can see that expansion is completely broken for the Unfallen. You might take it personally being a dev, but that's not how it's intended.
Not to mention the Unfallen already have problems because they can't beeline for good systems, so you fall massively behind on strategic resource production and production in general because you're gated behind other systems to colonise unlike other factions. Of course starting RNG can make or break a game for the Unfallen that way, but in this mod even on a good start you can't compete with players that know what they're doing.
Unfallen isn't the only one, but it's definitely the worst one. You say people are playing the unfallen fine, I wonder how casual these players are that they do not find issues with expansion. If you don't build 16 colony ships, you're on 6 systems colonised near the end of the game. How is that not completely ridiculous?
I'm not saying that playing the game casually is wrong(before you accuse me again), I'm just saying from a balance point of view the faction was destroyed. Just because some players are playing the Unfallen 'just fine' does not mean that they are 'just fine'. It is completely dependent on the skill of the players, and a purely subjective way of reasoning. Yes, the Unfallen always had a slow start and were never one of the best factions, but their midgame was solid if you know what you're doing. This mod has effectively kept their early game still slow compared to other factions (purely because of mechanical reasons, having to entwine a network like I've said before), but also bricked their midgame potential. The change the mod made to make their colonisation scale effectively nerfed an already average faction. Unfallen shouldn't need 16 colony ships rushed just to have any sense of expansion, the production cost of which puts them even further behind. It's hard to get 8 systems, the last of which you'll get around turn 80 if you really work at it. (which should be very close to the end of the game) Even with that many vine ships. Meanwhile, every other player will have already colonised much more, with much less colony ships, with fully built up systems. It's simply detailed feedback of my experience with the games I've played the Unfallen, that mathematically it's impossible to play the faction to a meaningful level due to expansion issues created by slowing down expansion.
This isn't a paid product, you can either give feedback in a respectful and constructive manner or you can unsubscribe and leave it, dropping your frustration on me isn't one of the options, even if the mod is unfinished and can lead to frustration due to bugs or quirky balance, it is not an excuse to do so.
Also, since you seem to consider yourself better than "casual" players I'll let you know that the changes in the mod actually makes beelining viable for Unfallen, the cost only increases when you colonize, not when you entwine, which lets the Unfallen expand over bigger distances and the massive reworks of Food and happiness actually makes their innate bonii shine a lot more. So yeah, the scaling cost (that was designed ages ago) is overtuned (and I've stated before it's on my todo list to rebalance it but I won't blame you for not knowing because the steam workshop isn't the best place to keep folks updated on my plans, I know) but the faction is far from being "broken".
