Game freezes and lag mid to late game
I'm at about the year 414 and the game hard freezes, presumably due to the large number of actions happening at once. I've nuked Akavir and was able to play for about a year, so that definitely helped, but nuking more regions isn't really a solution for me. Most of the action is in Tamriel.

Would it be feasible to add some sort of -50%, -75% or even -90% force limit modifiers to the whole world, along with the region nuking options? Playing at speed 1 seems to help to a degree but realistically, no one wants to play at speed 1. Without this the game is only playable for about 3 centuries. Maybe there are some other tweaks that can be made to limit how fast large armies can form?

So if you reduce the forcelimit, the game runs quicker?
Also, are you sure, that you are on 2.2.9 version of the mod? We have fixed a bunch of events, that were decreasing the perfomance.

I just noticed it now, but yes, I'm on 2.2.9. I'll give it another go if that was just updated.

Regarding the force limit, I don't know, I can only assume so since I would think lots of troop movements take a toll on performance. Even before this I did notice a lot of lag during large wars that got better during peace. The lag also gets worse as you progress through time until I got to 414 where it froze. I would say even several decades prior to the freeze it was playable but just barely. I guess events can do it too. Any other optimization ideas? 🤔

Just tested it and it froze immediately after I unpaused it, even with Akavir gone. Here are my saves if you want to have a look. One is with Akavir, one is without it.

I started a new game in Coldharbour so we'll see if a fresh game handles the new optimizations any better. Based on all the institutions and ages you have I can assume the mod was meant to be played much longer than 400 years.

Another idea, what if with each new age, there came a penalty to force limit, starting small and growing with each age? It would not be very noticeable or break immersion.

Okay, so we have talked with theolaa and decided to decrease the force limit. I also need today to rewrite some code for PU war declaration, as it turned out it can contribute into the freeses. And then I will look into the Akavir save game.

Sounds great, thanks. Really enjoying this mod so far! 🙂

Just tested the save game with Akavir. I am sorry, but I have only faced 2 lags for 1 second in a month. Some months were without lags... in some they were a bit longer... but I played on speed 5 for a year or so with no issues.

I have updated the mod. We reduced the manpower and forcelimit + fixed a bunch of crash issues. Hope it will help in in your next game.

What on earth? Can I ask your specs? I have a very high end PC with Core i7 9700K, 16GB RAM, and RTX 2080Ti.

Well, my specs are not that different from yours... I have Intel Core i9-10900, 32 GB of RAM and NVidea 1080...

You do have a slightly newer CPU, might be that. I can play my Balmora game again (with Akavir) at speed 2, after I gave countries a bit to fix their army sizes. Any higher and the game can still freeze depending on my actions but it's definitely better. :praisesun: Interestingly countries at war do not care about the force limit and will not reduce their armies.
