CTD, system freezes, and more
So I had been having some earlier issues that seemed at the time to be solved by installing the beta patch for EU4. Unfortunately, it did not last and I am now having a different but very similar issue, still related to these strange events.

So here's how it goes: At first it would play for pretty much exactly 15 minutes at a time at which point it would freeze my entire system. The only way out of this was to force kill my computer with the power button. The game would run but at maybe 1-2 frames per minute. If i made too many actions it would eventually freeze anyways but either way, not playable. This happened for about 3 times and each time I got back in, one or both of these messages would be waiting for me and I could continue for another 15 minutes:

Eventually it got to the point where instead of freezing after some time, it would freeze almost immediately after unpausing the game. Now it would crash to desktop instead of freezing my system similar to the issue I had prior to installing the beta.

Now @Aetherum, you mentioned some issue with v2.2.7 of the mod that was fixed with v2.2.8. In this screenshot where it says Version 2.2.7 is this the mod version? If so, I don't have the latest version which is almost certainly the issue. I don't know how to rectify this other than a manual download and install of the mod as this is what I get from the workshop.

If there's any more troubleshooting steps I can take or if there is a manual mod download available, I hope someone can help. I hate to come back with so many issues but this is what I've got. Thanks, and sorry for all this trouble!

Hi!
The 2.2.8 update is still work in progress, I am afraid. I want to make sure to fix as much bugs as posible.
About the freeze - can you send me the save game, please?
And I uess for now I can only recommend to try another nation to see, if the issue occurs again.

Maybe the freeze is caused by low RAM of your PC, as for some reason the beta starts to eat to much of it... I think it was already reported to PDX by Meow and Taxes team, but I do not know when the devs will be able to fix it. Anyway, let's first look at your save game, maybe this time it will repeat on my PC?

I have 16 GB of RAM. I've never heard of a game, especially EU4 needing more tham that. 🤔

I misunderstood, I thought you were saying the 2.2.8 release was out. I did technically try a different nation, starting as Windhelm instead of Skyrim. Looking back, Skyrim had the current issue but not the old issue before I switched to beta. This is all very odd. Anyways here is the save again. I really hope you can reproduce the issue, otherwise I'm at a loss. I could switch back to stable but the beta seemed to solve something.

The only consistent factor seems to be these Alessia popups. And it always starts happening midgame.

Update: I did switch back to stable and it didn't crash immediately, but still did crash.

That looks horrible. 😲
Could be that but I had pretty much the exact same issue in my old Skyrim save on stable, which I didn't send you because it was a cloud save.

Okay, I have the same issue... near 370 year as you. Though, I am not on Beta. And it is also is accompanied by 10 GB memory usage of EU4...

Try to remove the events folder of the mod

Weird. No I played it on beta but started it on stable.
