How do you get the riddle of the outer gate in the first place?
Once that is done, you need a keystone. Make one, buy one or punch a fallen empire until you have one. Then wait until you have a second anomaly on the Outer Gate, which should not take too long. Once again, research the anomaly. Once this second anomaly has been researched, you get the first riddle.
If you have picked the wrong answer, wait until the anomaly pops back up and research it for another shot. Repeat until you have the correct answer. Once you have the correct answer, you will soon be able to research the anomaly again for the second riddle. Repeat until the second riddle is answered correctly. Finally, research the anomaly one final time, wait ten years and die.
ah and who are these, "gatekeepers"?
I killed the gatekeepers, but there's no anomaly showing up. Is it because I attacked them while they were still neutral?
First, double-check that your scientist has the vanilla Spark of Genius. There are mods that add upgraded versions, but those do not work for getting Stellarite because they're different traits that ACOT doesn't check for.
Second, make sure that you have the required flag and research tier.
Third, run "techweights phy" in the console. It shows you every physics tech that you can research, including ones not currently listed as options.
If you have the right flag, research tier and trait, and if techweights phy doesn't list the Stellarite tech, you have a bug.
It was the spark of genius trait. I had to add the vanilla one to my scientist and it worked.
