I've been unable to do this as well, especially with Ser Raymun wearing a plate harness and attacking me with a mace. I can't do anything with the damn sword the castellan gives you.

I think its impossible so just use ctrl f4

It took me at least 10 (maybe more, i just wanted to get it done) tries with higher and higher level characters. It could just be me, but it almost seems like you meed to max Strength, Ironskin, and Power Strike from the beginning, not to mention the 1H skill needed since it isn't your (personal) sword. I had maybe 10 hp left at the end and started with 70 i think.

The shield has never really helped me, it just seems to get me staggered or fall over, but if i drop it or put it on my back i seemed to do better since the sword couldnt break. Also, you cant bash with that shield, so its more of a pain there. I had to hit him for quite some time and parry like mad and deal with only 4-8 damage on a successful hit when i was lucky.

Others may have it easier than me, but if i could have used my gear, i wuold have been fine i think. It was just such a grind to beat him it almost wasnt fun.

Then after you win, you have to beat his two bros that want revenge for his death, but you get tons of gear, more than 1300 coin, and a bunch of renown and honor at least. You have your gear though, just get ready for two much easier mounted opponents for all that could mean for you.

stab. you wont do damge with cuts but if you time your stabs with the momentum of both fighters you can kill him

Finally did it by desperately keeping some distance and stabbing him in the face a whole bunch. Not particularly stylish but it got the job done.

It's a lot easier once you are higher level. You can't expect to beat him easily before level 12 or so.

Lol, is not that hard, just attack by moving the mouse cursor up when he lower his guard.(srry for bad english...)

you gotta hit him in the head i know it does like 2 damage but thats the only way i did it just block and hit

The simplest way to kill him is stab to the head just as he enters your strike zone.

Keep him at a distance at all times. Once he gets inside your jab it's all over since the shield they give you is junk.

Download Morgh's Editor and even the odds. Give him a decent armor, decent skills and take the plate away. It should be a fair yet difficult fight. His mace will still pretty much one shot you though.
