Additional Creatures 2: Wild Ark
Alternatives to Vanilla Gatherers?
Do any of the dinos here work just as well, or even slightly better than the vanilla creatures like Anky, Doed, Beaver, etc?

The saurapelta is a great gatherer for stone, wood, thatch, metal, and berries. I also really like Andrewsarchus for gathering berries and fiber. Both can be ridden without a saddle so you can tame them early.
For the Andrewsarchus you need to be at least level 45 to be able to passive tame it. The saddle (which should really be an implant IMO) really only serves as a form of armor.

Second on the saurapelta and andrewsarchus, they're my go to for metal and fiber respectively.

I did rough tests and ended up deciding to use gigantspinosaurus as my berry gatherer atm, there are probably better choices but they're pretty quick and gather far more than I need. Plus I love using that wide tail swing to just mow down whole patches of plants lol.

Edit: I forgot, plateosaurus! They gather more narcoberries than other berries and turn them into narcotic in their inventory

Jumping on to ask a similar question, but I'm looking to know about passive gatherers; ie, dinos that harvest resources while on wander. I use Dino Patrol and like to collect harvesters and set paths for them to collect resources for me, and it'd be nice to utilize some of these new dinos.
Just thought I'd update this...Saurapelta now just collects berries and Andrewsarchus was removed so unfortunately my recommendations are pointless now. Sorry. Styglimoloch can get you metal and such early on I think, though I haven't tried taming one myself yet.
Just bumping this since nobody ever really made a comprehensive list of alternatives and
Utility tames so I took a crack at it.

Camarasaurus: Stone(No reduction, worse then Doed) Also unfortunately regularly has the dismount infinite falling glitch(Honestly if it weren't for this they'd be a swell Doed alternative)
