Daughter of the First Overview
I absolutely love this mod, but I've recently been reminded of how difficult it was to grasp how everything worked. Hence, this.
Do bear in mind that I'm not the developer of this mod, though I have been following it for a long time, so my interpretations may not be what was intended and I may miss out some things that even I didn't know.
Also, this is my first time writing something like this, so my apologies if it isn't very illuminating.
And finally, the mod is of course subject to change. I've been here since desperation was a damaging AoE move and parabolic shot marked targets, to name but a few changes.

NOTE: The skills Conqueror's Price and Bigger Glory have been reworked since this overview was last udated.

Daughter of the First
The first daughter rather likes to take damage, but don't let that fool you, she's also rather adept at dealing it.
As her class name suggests, she's rather good in position 1, but she's also surprisingly viable in position 4.

Notes
Something of a tl;dr. if you read nothing else of this guide, read these:
  • Every time the first takes damage, be it from a direct attack or DoT, she gains a buff to her maximum damage.
  • Upgrading the first's armour gives her bonus speed and upgrading her weapon gives her bonus accuracy.
  • The first can equip five skills at once.
  • The first cannot be stress healed while afflicted, except by meditation at the abbey.
  • The first cannot become virtuous, or gain any affliction except 'Descendant of the Conqueror' (and 'Refracted' for dying in endless mode).

Stats
One thing that you might notice about the first is that she doesn't have any base dodge. This doesn't change as you level up her armour, she never gains any dodge whatsoever.
However, she does gain something else. Each upgrade to her armour actually gives a boost to speed as well: +1 speed at level 2, +2 speed at levels 3 & 4, and +3 speed at max armour level.
You also might notice that her damage numbers seem to be the wrong way around, being 9-6, 11-7 etc. this is actually intentional (to my knowledge) because of the fact that when the first takes damage from any source, she recieves a buff to her maximum damage, hence taking damage a lot of times turns her damage numbers into something more reasonable (or, sometimes, something truly absurd).
You might not have noticed, though, that the first's weapon upgrades give her bonus accuracy. +4 at level 2, +8 at level 3, +12 at level 4 and +16 at level 5.

In terms of her other stats, her blight resist is off the charts while her bleed resist is one of the lowest in the game. Her move and stun resists are above average and her debuff resist is unremarkable. Only use her to try to disarm traps if you're actively trying to get her damaged and/or stressed.

Skills
Parabolic Shot
. . | | _ . | | |
The first's only direct damage attack.
If you're taking a lot of hits, the max damage has the potential to get absurd, but only the max damage. But even if unreliable, the damage potential is still huge. it's not that hard to get her max damage up into the 40s and 50s.
This move also applies a self-buff for +50% healing recieved, so as to help heal the damage that the first is taking to raise the skill's damage.
Other than that, there's not really much else to say. It's very accurate right from the start and has even more damage potential vs blighted targets and if the first is guarding. If you've got this skill equipped, it's usually worth having a look how much damage you could do by selecting it and hovering over the enemies.

Field's Dominance
| | | | _ | . . .
An interesting skill to be sure. it moves the first forward one, possibly moving her back into the first position if she's been shuffled out of it, as well as inflicting blight and pushing the target to the very back. Interestingly, the push is actually more likely at levels 1&2 than levels 3&4, though the chance goes up again at max level. Likewise the blight damage falls between levels 2 and 3, but its duration increases.
This move also applies the +50% healing recieved self-buff.

Fearsome Death
| . . | _ . | | |
"Hark! Shall none hear this soul's tale..."
An absolutely incredible blight skill, starting at 6 for 3 turns at level 1 and going up by 1 each level, with a secondary blight of equal strength that lands if you used Conqueror's Price that turn. However, this attack also stealths the target, so use it carefully, since the first doesn't actually have any way to hit stealthed targets herself.
It's generally best to use this move as a finisher, unless you're really confident in your other team members' ability to hit stealthed targets.
Do bear its low accuracy in mind, though. if you plan to use it at lower levels, consider bringing +accuracy trinkets.

Desperation
| . . | _ | | | |
A skill that definitely couldn't exist in the base game; Desperation is a free action (i.e. you can move again after using it) that inflicts a blight and grants the enemy another action. If you had already used Conqueror's Price this turn, it also inflicts all the other enemies with a slightly lower blight.
This move also has an incredible chance to crit.
In my experience, this move is best used as part of a combo with Fearsome Death to make sure that the enemy you hit doesn't actually get to experience the bonus action, as a result of dying of blight before it gets the chance. This is very doable, since even at level 1, Desperation + Fearsome Death make for a blight of 11 damage per turn (17 if you've used Conqueror's Price). If the enemy has less than 22 hp, it will not even get to use the second action you give it.
BEWARE: Desperation will grant the enemy a free action even if it misses. I'm not sure if this is a bug or not, but it does.

Conqueror's Price (outdated)
| | | | _ | | | | (allies)
One of the most powerful skills in the first's kit, but also one of the scariest to use. Conqueror's Price targets one of your allies and gives them another action, it also buffs the first with +200% blight skill chance (enabling those combos described above), heals her a bit and buffs her for +40% crit, and it doesn't even take an action.
however, there most certainly is a price to all this, the price being that this skill grants the entire enemy team another action.
There are two ways to think about using this skill. The first is that you only use it when most of the enemies are already dead, thereby mitigating the downsides and resulting in humorous scenes as the corpses have to pass their turns. This school of thought also works on bosses that aren't named 'the flesh' because you're only granting one extra turn, possibly even to a boss that takes multiple turns per round anyway.
The other school of thought is to use this skill as aggressively as possible. The enemies can't take their extra turns if they're dead, and considering that conqueror's price buffs all your blight skills and also gives another teammate a chance to act twice, there's a pretty good chance that the enemies aren't going to get to enjoy their extra turns.
Additionally, Conqueror's Price has a chance to stun all the enemies. The chance is low, but the first's crit buff buffs her stun chance for several rounds, allowing you to build up stun skill chance with desperation's high crit chance before using it if you're worried about giving the enemies an extra action.

I have yet to use this skill against any variant of the brigand pounder just in case it causes catastrophe.

My Dogma
| | | | _ |-|-|-|
My Dogma is an incredible ability that can be quite difficult to understand from its tooltip.
It is only useable above a certain percentage hp, and on use it first attempts to hit all enemies with a low accuracy 'attack' that doesn't actually do anything. It then guards all the other heroes and buffs the first for +max hp and -stress based on how many enemies were hit. Then, since the new max hp does not come with any hp to fill it, the first heals to full hp.
This extra hp only lasts a round, and behaves like a shield. Damage taken against the extra hp is removed along with that hp when the buff expires, allowing you to take a bunch of damage without actually taking damage at all.
The strengths of a global guard should be obvious enough, especially when the person doing the guarding likes taking damage so much. Be aware of stress, though, since the first will also be absorbing all of that for your team while the guard is up.

Bigger Glory (outdated)
| | | | _ | | | | (allies)
Bigger Glory buffs the chosen ally's bleed skill chance and stun skill chance, as well as buffing the first's own crit and max hp, as well as protection vs size 2 enemies. Note that, unlike My Dogma, this skill doesn't actually fill the max hp it gives you, so you'll have to heal her after she uses this skill.
this skill's usefulness depends on the rest of your party; if you've got someone who can use the extra 20% bleed and/or stun chance, it's fairly useful. if not, it's a self buff for crit that takes a turn to set up; certainly not the worst thing in the world, but you've got to wonder if there was something better you could have been doing with your time.

Be aware that, even though some of her moves don't take an action, you can still only use a given move once per round, so you can't just win by spamming desperation until everything has lethal blight.

The first can move three spaces back and one space forwards with the move skill.

If you want to lean fully into the blighting side of things and not worry about parabolic shot, it's perfectly viable to put her in the back position, since the three most important moves for that set: Fearsome Death, Desperation and Conqueror's Price, can all be used from there. she can also always move there in a single turn if your party gets shuffled.

Camping
The first has the common three camping skills: Encourage, Wound Care and Pep Talk.
She also has a move called 'force the affliction', which takes no respite points and... well... forces her affliction. I'll get to why you would want to do this soon.
Finally, she has two more abilities with self-explanatory names that I'm going to explain anyway:
'Loot Ignore protection Item' gives you 'The First's Right Hand', which grants you +100% armour piercing for a round when used in combat
'Loot DMG reduction Item' gives you 'The First's Left Hand', which grants you -100% damage taken until your next action.
Both of these items can be used by heroes other than the first, and do not persist between dungeons.

Affliction
"This might be my moment of triumph. This battle could be my greatest victory."

Barring any farmstead shenanigans you might be up to, when the first hits 100 stress, she will always get afflicted with 'Descendant of the Conqueror'
At this point, it becomes impossible to heal stress on the first, at least while in the dungeon. Conversely, it also becomes very difficult for the first to gain stress, to the point where you would pretty much have to be trying to give her a heart attack (or playing endless for an unreasonably long time)
That's probably the least interesting of its effects, though. with the most interesting also being the most dangerous.
Did you like Conqueror's Price? Well I sure hope you did, because now she will give all the enemies a free action every round, as well as blighting them all for a small amount (so far as I can tell, this blight can't be resisted)
She also gains +100% max hp while guarding.
and will probably block your retreat. (though I believe she can only do this once per turn)
Forgive me, but this is the affliction i'm the least familiar with. The next two effects will be based on the change notes rather than personal experience.
She also blocks all attempts to swap places with her, but in doing so moves herself to the front of the party.
And finally she will refuse to be healed, but in doing so heal herself and lower her max hp.
(also note that an afflicted character can only refuse an action once per turn, so if you have a second healer, you will be able to get her to heal herself and then heal her normally)

Now, why would you wish such a thing upon yourself using 'Force the Affliction'? Well, while it is still somewhat disadvantageous (hence why it's an affliction rather than a virtue), Descendant of the Conqueror actually comes with a lot of benefits, especially if you're using My Dogma, since the extra max hp the affliction brings means that you can tank almost any attack pretty easily. The blight damage might not seem like much, but it wears the enemies down quickly with the amount of turns that they're taking, especially when you consider how good the first already was at killing things with blight.

Additionally, unlike other afflictions, Descendant of the Conqueror does not cause the first to pass turns, act on her own or stress out the party in my experience.

aaand that's all I have time for today. I'll try to do the fourth next, since the second is fairly easy to grasp and the third might be getting a rework soon. Hopefully I'll be able to cover all four daughters, but it's a bit hectic since I'm off to university soon as well.
