The game produces log files. These are essential for debugging.

If you have HugsLib, press ctrl-F12 to upload logs

Or find logs here:
+ Windows: Steam/steamapps/common/Rimworld/RimWorld_Data/output_log.txt
+ Mac OS X: /Users/[Username]/Library/Logs/Unity/Player.log
+ Linux: Pass '-logfile /tmp/rimworld_log' to the RimWorld binary. It generates a log at that location.
And upload it all to pastebin.com or something

I created a new policy (Battle) in Better Pawn Control, set it up, changed the pawns back to the default policy. Set the policy in Gear Up and Go's mod options to Battle. Selected all my pawns and clicked the gear up and go button to have them gear up. All goes well.

Problem starts when I want to undraft them. I right-click the Gear Up and Go button, expecting them to be undrafted and their policy set back to the previous one, as explained in the mod description. Instead, the game crashes.

Edit: I tried using the vanilla undraft (after using G&G to draft) and the game still crashes.

Neat. A crash. That's extra hard to figure out.

And it's not a problem on my game...

So it's probably a mod conflict. That'll take some sleuthing to find.


See how it goes with just GearUpandGo. It should be good.
See how it goes when starting a new game with all those mods. That should again crash.
Remove half the mods to narrow down which other mod conflicts.

If I can get GearUpAndGo + another mod to crash my game then it's fixable.

(btw JTReplaceWalls is obsolete with Replace Stuff)

The mod that conflics seems to have been Mining Priority, which was throwing a lot of errors itself and interfering with pawns' ability fo find jobs. I just loaded up my save with Gear Up and Go active and without Mining Priority, and it worked perfectly.

(I know the mods are redundant, I was trying out Replace Stuff. :P)

Well I'm still not seeing crashes with those mods

Better Pawn Control, Mining Priority, and Gear Up And Go,

(which doesn't surprise me... Mining Priority is very small.)

Just those 3 causes crashes?

Iam not seeing crashes, but for me the undrafting doesnt work.
ive 2 policies with better pawns:
1) normal wit only the wardens and hunters having weapons
2) battle with everyone geared up.

the gear up part does work well, but they dont drop their battle gear when im undrafting them

The issue seems to be simple: despite following the steps, gear up and go doesn't change the policy for the colonists so they go to a location and do nothing. Or if i have the combat policy set prior to drafting, then the colonist will grab a marine helmet or something but not fully kit out. Other nondrafted colonists will be filtering into the equipment room and grabbing gear on their own. I also get a Gear+Go failed to set Pawn Control error message in the ingame sidebar as well and in message history. That shows up in the above log as well.

Please let me know what other information you need from me that I might have missed, I'm kinda rusty on the whole bug reporting thing. Thank you.

That is yet again fixed (for probably the last time).

LET THIS BE A LESSON (to all those who aren't reading this thread)

This was a commonly-reported error that people had, the button didn't work. It was simply due to Better Pawn Control changing their version #. BUT NO ONE SHOWED ME THE LOGS that would clearly show the problem.

I finally find out that is the problem by myself, find it is it not fixable, but I add a warning in the log when it happens.

You upload the log the day after I already figured it out ;

Heh, i hear that. Need anything else from me on this? I'm assuming this will work again. Also somehow i forgot to mention I switched to 1.0 when prior to this i was on b19. But everything else seemed to be working.

No, it just needed a re-build with the BetterPawnControl version. Easy update, all done.

{LINK REMOVED} Button doesn't exist at all during gameplay however is in the mod settings menu in options when at the pause menu.
