From there you can select "Start Mission". You can also recruit units here too.
Once you have completed a mission, you can request transport back to main HQ, then go to the notice board to start next mission.
Let me know if this helps and good luck
is there any order to it like the next mission plays or continues from the last mission, or how does it work?
The aim is to complete missions and keep your reputation up (i.e. dont kill civs, lose too many guys, dont shot any friendly rebels, call too many arti strikes, lose main assets etc...)
As your rep increases, so does your team rank. Your aim is to get to rank 5, which will then give you a final objective, which will be a heavily populated enemy area,
Along the way, as your rep increases you will have options for different unti types and support options.
Be carefull though... the higher your rank, the more chance you have of losing more (e.g. you may work hard getting to rank four, then call an arti strike on a town full of civs killing them all, and your rank may drop down to one again!)
So the higher the rank, the more careful you will need to be
I noticed there is an option at the mission board that implies it should save the mission, but when I try to use it nothing happens.
I'm using the version on your website, installed in the Missions folder for singleplayer.
Edit: I found some discussion about this in the comments on the main page so I'm checking to see if it is working the way it is intended.
Seems to not be, I'm definitely left starting over from rank 1 when I attempted saving at the mission board a rank 2 the other day.
You mentioned picking a type of save at the laptop, but I can't seem to interact with that at all, assuming it is the one on the table. Perhaps I have to actually play a mission first, since I don't see the whiteboard save option either. I suppose I'll give that a go next time, anyway.
Okay, successfully completed a new campaign mission, but my only option is to "Exit Mission - will save if save active". I'm assuming my problem is that the save is not active, since I can't choose a save type as has been suggested elsewhere. Selecting the option does not seem to either exit the mission or save the game.
The laptop saving is only for servers, as you cant save progress on a server, so this will allow to save rank etc...
But for single player, basic save should be fine (this highlights the fact i need to hide these options if single player)
... if its disabled in the normal esc menu, take a look at your difficulty settings, there is an option to allow unlimited saving.
To load your campagin, just open the senarios and click the continue button (let me know if this works for you)
I will include in the next version the ability to save mission at the laptop at base (so if you dont allow unlimited saves, you can now save when at base only (obviously, if you would rather just save when ever you want, then adjust the difficulty settings in your arma options)
It also does not seem to autosave anything, as if I go to play again there is never any prior save data to reset.
I think it may be a campaign-specific problem, since I just attempted a single mission, and the in-game Save option was available after the game initialized everything as you said it should.
And since doing that, now the campaign seems to want to let me save properly? So either I've been having a fever dream the whole time, or this really is the weirdest quirk ever. I guess problem solved.
Wait, I think I'm figuring out the problem, one of the options at startup is blocking it specifically, somehow. I'll see if I can't find out which one.
It actually seems to be a combination of several settings. It appears every time I start a game with settings:
at Main HQ
Realistic Revive (critical hits kill instantly)
and Virtual Ammobox on
...saving does not work after. But the individual settings seem to be fine on their own. Very bizarre.
I think it is probably the Virtual Ammobox and Revive script, they don't seem to be playing nice together with regards to game saving. Also only seems to affect the campaign, not single missions.
If you use the 'u' menu and switch to control an AI squadmate, you lose the ability to call for the transport chopper, even after switching back.
Rather minor, since I don't really need to do that, but I figured it worth mentioning.
