Space tech tree balancing
I was originally going to put this in the suggestions section , but then thought it would be a good idea to start a general discussion about the balancing of the tech tree in space. In terms of where units sit on the tech tree.

Note this is not about the balancing of the ships themselves. I think the ships themselves are well-balanced in the mod for the time being. I really like the MC80b mon remonda

my thoughts. So far relate entirely to the Rebel alliance space tech tree

I'm not entirely sure that the rebels should need to research the e-76 nebulon-b frigate to gain access to it. I believe it should be a level 0 ship because if memory serves, it dates from the clone Wars and was used by the rebels even before the battle of scarif. It doesn't possess a great deal of firepower either, so locking it behind research doesn't make much sense in my opinion. It doesn't carry a great fighter complement either its fighter complement is rather vulnerable to Tie fighters. Unlike the compliments seen in many other rebel ships

The second ship that might need to be positioned differently in terms of the space tech tree for the Rebel alliance is the dreadnought class heavy cruiser. Although however I can understand why has been locked behind research because it is quite a powerful ship. Unlike the Nebulon and would perhaps be a bit too powerful for the rebels was a level 0 ship. However, in terms of timeline. It was used by the old Republic. So if you take that into consideration having to unlock it via research doesn't make sense.

Just my thoughts. But what do others think?

The rebels needing to research the EF-76 does make sense from a timeline perspective. The mod begins in 18 BBY, one year after the decleration of the Empire. The EF-76 wasn't introduced until after the Clone Wars as a counter insurgency ship designed by KDY as an escort frigate to defend Imperial convoys from starfighter raids. The Rebellion would only gain theirs as the war went on (through defections/theft/capture) so being required to unlock them makes sense from that perspective. Whether it should be locked away from a gameplay perspective is another question and I agree that it would be fine as a starting ship powerlevel wise.

Dreadnought is the exact flip of the EF-76 scenario, a ship that would make sense timeline wise but as a powerful ship gameplay wise it makes sense to gate access to at the start.

Also just a reminder that this is a legends mod, not Disney canon so there was no Scarif.
