Very laggy galaxy map
I am having some major issues with lag in the galaxy map, I am fine in battles, even when I have tonnes of fighters and such

Does anybody know any workarounds when having the same issue?

Thanks for all the hard work, I am absolutely loving the reimagining of the usual mainstay mechanics, BIG thumbs up guys!!!!

The scale of the mod does seem to cause some lag. My suggestion is try one of the smaller conquest maps.

I guess it's the AI doing too many things (it's not the map size).
I'm testing around a bit, less AI actions, more time for attack plans & lower intervalls etc. - and force my CPU to do more.

@evilbobthebob: i've not run it in debug mode yet, but is there a problem with the garbage collector? any easy way to lower the running scripts without crippling the AI too much?
for now i'm trying it with ServiceRate & UnitServiceRate = 20 @ galacticfreestore.lua

Without fast raiding (many cheap raids with auto resolve) it seems to run much smoother over time
.
I'll take it with humor - it's the revenge of the AI, fight back with lags to counter all those raids :D

Playing (messing) with the .lua and .xml files does not do the trick for me, yet - and my CPU is lazy as always, it'll not spend more than 5% on this game (Ryzen 1700x), but it could be the known energy-saving bug with AMD CPUs - same with the clausewitz engine and some other games/engines.

Yeah, I am experiencing it too... it should be made simple

so for some reason the game lags heavily when selecting plantets or units on the map, Ive never experienced this with another major EAW mod so im a bit confused

I found that I experience that lag most heavily when I've built a ton of mining or other income boosting units/buildings all at once. If I paced that growth, I was able to avoid that sort of lag.

I'm having the same problem with lag. I get a good framerate when the game is paused but when i unpause it dips to like 20-30 FPS

It could be income related because it is constantly trying to calculate the income for the player and AI. It seems to work better when paused, it can handle itself in battles, however in galactic conquest it just dies.

Major lag problems as well. I don't think the game can handle whats going on under the hood. It looks like a really interesting mod, but with it being so laggy, i just can't play it.

The game seems to limit the RAM that's able to be used to 2GB. If the RAM cap was increased, it would run a lot smoother. I agree that the larger maps are unplayable, which is a shame since this is my favorite mod, and playing the largest maps would be the most fun.

There are mods that increase the amount of RAM that can be used, but the game doesn't support multiple mods out of the box.

Yeah mechanically/gameplay wise this is my favourite mod for sure. Hopefully we can get the big map optimised more somehow soon :)

Oh yeah, I forgot about that bug/problem. If the mod creator could merge these mods together then this could work.

Anybody figured out a way to fix this? I really want to play the mod but even on the smallest galaxy as soon as I click one planet everything lags to hell. It's really weird as I have a very strong PC

It won't matter if you spent over 2 grand on a pc or £700 mate, because the game is so old, I believe it only uses 4 GB RAM, and one core if I am not mistaken so it is never going to be fast on that mod. Saying that, I believe there was a mod for the game which increases the resources the game uses, if you can find that mod and then run it alongside this mod, then hopefully it might help, sorry for being not too descriptive, and I am not 100% sure with my facts above, however, it is an old game therefore it won't be able to run with all of your available resources.

I had very much lagg problems even unplayable at some times with my old pc gtx 9700 i72600k

but with my new rig rtx 2060super i9900k no problems completely playable even with the largest campaigns and lots of ai units.
it is the ai units that cause the lagg for this mod the tech trees to be specific which makes this mod unique anyhows. I got 16gb of ram.

This mod is certainly not meant to be played with old or weak pc's despite being an ancient game by now. I can also run this in 4k and smooth enough only sometimes when AI is moving things it laggs but nothing that would prevent gaming.
