Actually, I was thinking about doing it. I think that I could try to do it, but I worry about copyright. The author didn't give permissions to make a mods based on his mod, but he didn't forbid it either. If I add those options it will be another mod, which will require this Marriage Mod - To Have & To Hold, but I'm not sure if I am allowed to do so at all.

If someone has made the plan to stop working with the mod and does not keep up to date with messages or comments then he doesnt care and gives the the right to use the mod to anybody. Please message me as i have some ideas for anybody who is willing to update this mod. I am no modder but a good tester. Thank you.

And for some proof on my thoughts, the creator has not been online for over 300 days. I suspect he has lost the joy of Skyrim or even just modding skyrim.

What you say makes sense. I hope we are not about to do anything illegal... There are no sources for scripts in the archive though. It's not a good sign: if the Author chose not to publish sources it might indicate that he doesn't want anybody else to dig into his mod. I was not speaking about repairing it properly, or adding any brand new features. I only meant adding compatibility with Hearthfire.

I understand. And I looked at his modding and he is a novice modder. He only has two mods out and this is his first mod of this style. Thus not thinking to include certian things. It does not matter anymore. Just send him a message stating that you are going to use the mod to update it and if he reads it and comes back no big deal. Atleast you messaged him and told him.

His sources were under a dropbox called something like "JTSBetaprojects@gmail.com," but I forget the password. It's worth noting that he told me (as a beta tester) that he was away frequently for long periods due to work which he wouldn't specify.

My suggestion is to add some info on new mod, that all credits go to author of "To Have & To Hold" and new author is only updating it for community. Its not perfect solution, but some people do it in l4d 2 workshop and there are no repercusions about it.

Yeah if contacting him doesnt work then I think you're safe as long as you credit him. Worst case the original modder just asks you to stop.

I don't know how to send him a private message. So I'm speaking about it here. I'm now working on a mod. I'm not sure in the result, but if I manage it would add compatibility with Hearthfire for this Marriage Mod. It isn't reproduction, or repack, or update - it is a new mod that requires Skyrim, Hearthfire and Marriage Mod - To Have & To Hold. It's more like an Adapter, an attempt to make this mod work with Hearthfire houses. Of course, all rights on Marriage Mod - To Have & To Hold, and on this Adapter I'm working on belong to joeThinkStudios, all credits go to him! If he appears here, or gets in touch with me somehow, and says that he wants me to stop - I will stop by his first word, if this Adapter is already uploaded by the time he appears I will delete it.
