Broken Difficulty
I cannot understand why the AI in this mod is so broken, unfair and also cheating:
I started a campaign as the republic and captured a few planets, upgraded tech to level 4 and got myself a nice main fleet, with some decent defences on every planet (both on space and land) and managed to arrive at day 41 (the goal was to hold Coruscant till day 45) when the AI said "alright, enough messing around" and literally started spamming, with its few low-yield planets left, about 7 blockade battleships, 20 and more normal battleships and hundreds of frigates, accompanied by all their heroes. They mopped up every space station from my frontline to Coruscant in a matter of seconds (outside the battles, those took about 5-10 minutes each), they suffered heavy losses from every battle, and when they arrived at Coruscant they still had ALL their heroes alive and well, even though I already killed some of their heroes at least once. They obviously obliterated my main fleet by sheer numbers (even though I got a lot of kills also thanks to the planetary cannon) and took control of Coruscant's space. OK, I can still do this, I just have to organize the land defences while I prepare a new fleet to-

BOOM
GAME OVER
Apparently they conquered the heavy fortified Coruscant, filled with troops and defences without firing a single shot because... Palpatine was there?
Look, I honestly love this mod I had a lot of good times with the skirmishes, but having my ass beaten on easy because the AI cannot win and decides to cheat is too much for me.
Also, on second note, the Republic needs a huge buff, mainly on the range of their troops.

I have experienced AI cheating far too much (from mods and base game). I don't think it is necessarily the developer's fault, I think it is the base game's fault.
Example: I once was playing this mod (non-RAW) where this team had literally no starting forces (except for level 1 space stations and barracks and Tech 1), and within the first day they had several battleships and tons land forces.

hmm... so this explains some things. Thanks for answering to my rant.

Just so you know, the Core Assault GC is the hardest GC the play; for precisely the reason you lost. I would always recommend against playing it unless you are an experienced RaW player. The larger GCs like The Clone Wars are actually easier because you have more planets, more income, more special bonuses etc. Plus you don't just instantly lose upon a set loss condition, so you can recover from losing battles and planets etc. In addition the point of the Core Assault GC is to be playing back against the wall against overwhelming odds.

To you other point, the Republic is actually mostly equal to the CIS and in some cases much stronger. If anything the CIS needs a buff, not the Republic. And this is from a hardcore Republic fan.

excuse my ignorance, but what exactly is the "Core Assault GC"? I get that is the main reason of my defeats, but it doesn't explain the instant total-loss that I received without being able to fight. Also I understand that most clone troops feel stronger than their CIS counterpart (quality over quantity of course), but my problem is being able to survive their tank (since they have a longer range than the clone hover-tanks) and droideka (I always confuse if they need to be treated as infantry or vehicles) spam.
Still, glad to have a fellow Republic fan to discuss this with :)

Core Assault is the name of the Galactic Conquest campaign you were playing. There are multiple Galactic Conquest campaign that you can choose from, and unfortunately you picked the hardest one.

To defeat CIS vehicles use turbolaser towers where you can and artillery where you can't. Sabre tanks are also really good spamable vehicles for general use and AT-TEs are good front line tanks. Use clones as sacrifices to keep the enemy distracted, then hit them with the artillery and your tanks.

AI cheats on Core Assault for me. They likely just send Dooku (not with any other forces, so he is stealth) and land on Coruscant, thus causing them an instant win. That usually happens to me before the massive fleet arrives.

I think the AI hordes units units until your final days (both from your win and Coruscant's life) and then just sends them all in at once. It is like the Battle of Bulge from World War II, except the attacking force wins.
