My transformer exploded and I don't know why!
So I have a fully-fueled Type-A reactor operating at 7% capacity, churning out ~10k watts, one turbine, and one transformer. The transformer SAYS it can handle a maximum of 200k watts, so I thought my paltry 10k would be easy to deal with, but I got a message that power overload had caused the transformer to explode. I watched in horror as the transformer sizzled and then burst, and the chain reaction vaporized a sizable portion of my colony (thank Randy for autosave).

Am I missing something? How did I overload my transformer operating at 5% of it's capacity?

random event, nothing to worry about, also you can stop them from exploding if you just cut the lines or kill the power

Oh dear. I guess I better move the transformer further away from the, uh, chemfuel storage. And the CE ammo and mortar shells. Haha. Thank you Dubwise.

yer go look up transformer explosions in real life

I'm assuming, to stop the explosion, you need to cut the high-voltage lines that connect the transformer to the turbine, right? There's no switch for high-voltage lines, so you have to manually deconstruct them, correct?

I was thinking about connecting the transformer to the rest of the power grid with a standard power switch, but I'm guessing that flipping that switch wouldn't stop the explosion, since the transformer is still connected to the turbine via the HV lines.

yer you have to actually deconstruct it, or scram the reactor

Ok, cool. Thank you again for your help. Really fun and interesting mod, btw.
