Player Feedback: Affinity Preferences
I'm curious what affinities people have been using/choosing and how useful they've been finding them to be. Checking out their stats on the google-info-doc, all of them are very useful, but I'm looking for feedback from my fellow players.

Currently, Poison Affinity seems like the best from my experience. The -15% max health does hurt, but with high Endurance and a Health/Healing Aug, this isn't as harmful. There are also about 20 Poison-based attacks monsters have in the game (double that of any other element), so Poison immunity negates those, liquid poison, and poison gas traps (like from pods). Favoring the Knight with sword/shield combo, the +6Dex for more 1Handed dmg isn't bad either.

Fire Affinity, though, is really close behind. As rain and water are regular things, having -30% max energy and 1dmg per sec while wet/submerged is annoying, but high Vigor and a Healing Aug make them much less so. And while fire doesn't have as many elemental attacks, they do deal the most damage ones in the game, so resistance to that is very beneficial. And that lava immunity is no joke; suddenly, you want to carry stacks of lava in your pocket so you can drop it on mobs while you strole by unharmed.

So that's my experience playing with a Knight, but what about my fellow Protectors? What classes are you and how have you been finding each of the affinities? I'm really interested to find out.

We're hopefully going to start working on Subclasses soon, but we wanted to know what you guys felt about certain things:

First, what two transformations do you think Shapeshifter should be able to use:
goo .gl/forms/yFppOrSVsdpylnqJ2

Second, should Subclasses be released as they are created, or should we make all of them first before releasing them:
goo .gl/forms/hiijaTq6GvjdUOOj2

Remove the spaces in the links.

I've looked at the transformations for the shapeshifter.
Doesn't have any cool or "wow" factor to it.
so seems a bit meh

What is this "wow" factor you are talking about? These are two of the potential 4 transformations that Shapeshifter will be able to use. As much as I'd love to make more, you have to realize that each transformation needs its own movement, animation, abilities, immunities, and attacks.

We're a 4-man team with 1 sprite artist, 2 Lua programmers, and 1 JSON coder, all of whom work or go to college. There's not much we can do :(
the "wow" factor : "The distinctive appeal that an object, behavior or person has on others.
An impressive display brought on by a certain object, behavior or person."
example : although dishonored managed to make it cool to transform into a rat, there is more "wow" factor to transforming into a dragon over a rat.

ho, 4 transformations already well good luck with that. ;)

-to make your life simpler maybe the shapeshifter could transform into one or more of the other general races (human/floran/glitch/avali ....) just a suggestion though.

Well, you didn't have to go so in detail, but thanks anyway :p One of the transformations will definitely have wow factor, but the two you choose here are the 'energyless' ones.
playing FU with RPG growth & Difficulty+. Venom is the way to go for me
however I have actually refrained from choosing an affinity cause they are way too powerful

Personally I like Fire/Knight build. I'm almost level 40, and with that my hp is pretty well off, along with a healing augment and honestly I rarely notice any detriment, and just walking through lava, fire traps/attacks, and anything heat related is super awesome lol.
FIre is damn op because of lava/fire resistance. It doesn't decrease fire damage input - it completely negates it. And it's easy af to decrease your poison weakness via Poison Resistance Augment

I like this thread, but I'm going to lock it because I need the 'Tech Help' thread to be visible on the main page. There are many people who never read the description, or the Doc, or any of the other comments, so they think that techs that use the [G] key don't work.

Edit: Feel free to post any Affinity related balance discussion in the Balance/Bug Thread, and I'll be sure to read everything :)
